I think of Bleu de Chanel as the ultimate dumb reach. In my wardrobe AdG is my easiest wear.
It’s tragic to think that heroic man’s great destiny is to become economic man, that men will be reduced to craven creatures who crawl across the globe competing for money, who spend their nights dreaming up new ways to swindle each other.

From a personal viewpoint and speaking strictly about the ones in the current wardrobe alone: most likely Mugler Cologne, a defining and striking example of versatile adaptable freshness

Cool Water, Silver Mountain Water, and Grey Vetiver are all dumb reaches for me.

I think of 'dumb reach' fragrances as safe, easy to wear, but perhaps not all that inspiring. You might like them, but not love them.

    AdG Profumo

Other, more obscure stuff like CdG Black Pepper and Bentley Absolute probably check off these boxes for me as well.

To me a dumb reach is also relatively inexpensive so I don’t have to worry about really enjoying it..if that makes sense.

Caron Pour Un Homme Sport is one of these. I really like it, it’s cheap and good anytime really.

Dumb reach for me usually means light, inoffensive citrus/green scents under $100: the aforementioned Mugler Cologne, Guerlain L'Eau Boisee, Guerlain Vetiver, TF Grey Vetiver, D&G Light Blue, YSL L'Homme Sport, etc. Something like Sole di Positano or Neroli Portofino would be less of a dumb reach for me, even though they're in that category as well - they're just too expensive.

BdC Parfum: My favorite, because it’s a dumb reach and at the same time classy enough for any situation in which you may find yourself.

Carven L’Eau Intense: Fresh, cooling, a touch sweet. Excellent performance. My dumb reach MVP in 2016 and 2017.

Guerlain L’Homme Ideal Cool: Smells totally different but creates the same effect as Carven L’Eau Intense described above. This will likely be my 2019 dumb reach MVP.

Dior Homme Sport 2008: Ginger grapefruit goodness. Unique and versatile.

Costly dumb reach: Elysium Parfum Homme: This one’s a problem—it’s addictive, super easy to wear, draws compliments like crazy, and costs $495 for a 50ml. That’s a scary combination. Wallets beware.

Budget dumb reach: Sean John I Am King: Fantastic juicy tart cranberry opening and a fresh fruity aquatic feel throughout. It’s fun and sporty, so spray your heart out (lasts about 3 hours, so you’ll have to).

Hot and humid summer DR: Guerlain Cologne Imperiale: Olfactive lemonade. Use generously.

I call them "go to" scents. I wear them when I can't think of
what else to wear and don't want to offend anyone or make a
    statement.

    Mine are :-

    Cacharel Noa
Seville a l'Aube (an more expensive one)
    The Body Shop White Musk
    Comme Une Evidence (Yves Rocher.)
A woman without perfume is like a flower without a scent.

For me, a dumb reach is something I can pick up to wear without overthinking, knowing full well that I am guaranteed to actively enjoy wearing it - the only thing that might stop me doing this more often could be cost or availability of the perfume. I don't see a dumb reach as having to be a safe or cheap option, or even a regular one, it's more about knowing that it will work for me every single time and put a smile on my face.

My number one is Moschino Forever Sailing - I fell in love with this in Verona last year and wouldn't be without it. Nothing special about it on paper, lavender and juniper over amber and patchouli, but I love it.

For the rest in no particular order, and errors and omissions excepted:

Dior Homme Parfum, Bois d'Argent, Mitzah, Eau Sauvage Parfum 2012 or Fahrenheit
    Cartier Declaration or Declaration Parfum
Prada Amber (woman) or Infusion d'Amande
    Piver Heliotrope Blanc or Vetiver
Lalique Encre Noire or Hommage a l'Homme
    Al Rehab Fares
    YSL Jazz
Lush Tank Battle, Cardamom Coffee or What Would Love Do
    Annick Goutal Ambre Fetiche
    Burberry Touch for Men
    Versace Blue Jeans

+1. For me it’s vintage Shalimar parfum.

Am I only the one who finds the term "dumb reach" to be like nails on a chalkboard? I picture a mouth-breathing lobotomy case fumblingly spraying himself in the face with some nameless cologne-guy cologne.

That’s kind of a funny mental image you conjured there...I’m picturing Homer Simpson after his lobotomy.

Personally I don’t mind the term, and just think of it as something you can easily and quickly grab in a hurry or when you’re not really sure about what you want to wear.

“Full bottle worthy”...now there’s a nails on the chalkboard term for me.

I'm amused by how many Basenoters just write FBW instead, and basically expect everyone else to know what they're talking about. But then again, I'm also amused by the sexist term "panty dropper" that we're not supposed to use here anymore. Oh wait...
