Default Help me to find a dark perfume from past

I tested a perfume between 2000 and 2009. Desperately looking for its name.

my english is not good but i try to explain.

perfume was not floral, aquatic and fresh, it was dark.
opening was bitter, dark, medicinal. i am not sure it was spicy. it attacked to my nose, like some kind of needles.

there was a little sugar. at drydown it finished very cool smell, like a mysterious tree.

Today after 15 years, i think it was a pine-conifer or eucalyptus perfume, but i am not sure. I searched all pine threads and read perfume comments, they are not similar to my perfume i tested.

This perfume was diffrent, complex, not cute.
It was from designer category. thanks !

I guess if we all list scents that are near the mark maybe it will jog your memory. So I will start with the following:

    Encre Noir
    Body Kouros
"There's No School Like The Old School."

    My Top Summer Scents

    1. Eau de Rochas Homme
    2. Guerlain Homme l'Eau Boisee
    3. Guerlain Vetiver

If not Body Kouros, can you describe the bottle?

I'd be tempted to say Kokorico, but maybe not.

What did the bottle look like? Or did you only have a decant?

Literally, what you are describing could be any one of thousands of perfumes. Is there anything else you remember about it?

Could you narrow it down? LOL. 2000 to 2009 is nearly a decade. Can you narrow it down to a specific year or couple years or so?

    Yes the possibilities are vast!

I was thinking M7 too, or Opium Pour Homme with the spice.
It’s the eucalyptus that throws me though - I can only think of Safari or even Pasha but those two don’t come across as dark to me.

Opus 1870 is from the same time interval and also has a few non-sweet, almost medicinal spiciness and some minimal piny notes to it, but is nowhere near as bitter nor sharp although possibly cooling as described, at least after letting its opening/top notes pass and dry down

Van Cleef and Arpels pour homme, dark beyond measure

You going to have to test, pine can be gentle to some, harsh and dark to others

M7 would be a good suspect.

Could also be Anthracite pour Homme by Jacomo de Jacomo. Could well be a lot of things actually, including fragrances released prior to 2000-2009.

Looking at your old threads, this seems to be the only question you've asked on the forum, and haven't replied or acknowledged the people trying to help you. In your old thread you said it looks like Kenzo pH bottle. So maybe others can use this along with the other little information you've given to help crack the case.

Another thing I don't understand is how you can narrow it down to a 9 year gap. There were a lot of fragrances made between 2000 and 2009. Maybe you can give us a better time frame.

My opinions.. it could be Guy Laroche Horizon, Terre d'Hermes, or Cerruti 1881.

    Thank you all you are nice people. I want to answerr to all replys;

My english is not good, after 15 years my memories are gone, it is so hard to remember the smell.

I can narrow the time interval to 2003 - 2009.

I tested a lot of perfumes in last 5 years, in shops and bought decants.
Polo Green, drakkar noir, encre noire lalique, loewe esencia, bentley absolute, some CDG perfumes, terre d hermes, body kouros. gucci PH II.
Some I like, some didn't. They are all good fragrances, but they are only standart and happy perfumes. They are cute Not different, not complex to me.

The opening and whole atmosphere of my perfume is different, but I can't be sure it was from spice or from a wood, or from a herb.... Sorry.

I didn't try some perfumes that you listed. I will look for them.

I can give examples for good and complex perfumes ; terre d hermes, bvlgari pour homme.
But their smell are not similar to perfume I look for.

And again, my perfume was from designer team, not niche.

Thanks again, I am very hopeless. I am trying read perfume comments and develop myself about perfume notes. Woods, conifer woods, spices ,herbs....

You seriously need to get your hands on vintage YSL M7. There is a strong possibility that this is what you are looking for. With respect to Polo or Van Cleef and Arpels Pour Homme, I don't think these fragrances would leave this lasting impression. There are few designers that would, M7 being one of them.

It sounds very much like 34 by Diptyque or Elixir by Penhaligons but both are out with the year

    Carnal Flower?

To be fair, testing the readily available M7 Oud Absolu should be enough to know if that's the one he's looking for.

But he even says he's not even sure it was pine or eucalyptus that he was smelling! That's why it's pointless recommending anything. Basically, the only thing he's sure of is that it was dark.
