7:45 am here today and breakfast was hard-boiled quail eggs, sweet pumpkin salad, and pork, onion, carrot, and green bean stir fry. Yesterday’s cooking class included a market visit to buy ingredients. If it grows in Korea, it’s for sale. I’ve never seen so much plant material. Roots, leaves, stems, bark, nuts, fruit—all of it harvested and put to some use. Garlic is in almost every dish and there were multiple stalls with garlic heads bundled six feet high and four feet across. I had burdock tea yesterday which tastes of almost nothing, just a little bit “earthy” but is supposed to be good for women. How, I was not able to understand. Also, steeping a desiccated frog in water and feeding it to your kids is supposed to help their bones. It’s hot here and I didn’t bring very lightweight pants, so I’ll be doing a little shopping this morning.

Today’s dip into the travel sample stash is YSL Mon Paris, a sweet fruity floral. I don’t know where I got this sample, I certainly didn’t buy it. Maybe I’ll leave it for housekeeping.

    New side hustle for Shycat?

Today I'm going with vintage Eau Fraiche from Dior. It's a fragile, ephemeral thing but it's worth it.

I like the way you think.

Foxbins, this sweet pumpkin salad ... cooked pumpkin or maybe shredded like cole slaw?

Pottering today (differentiated from outside this-n-thating by measure of strain). My hands and back need more recuperation time from Sunday's shoveling blow-out, so trying to restrain myself from heavy-duty projects today. Pottering sits adjacent to pinky-out gardening.

Wearing a liberal dosage of Dior Granville. This is another recent blind buy. I purchased a massive "bomber" bottle (8.4oz) on eBay for a good price. Mike generously gave me a sample a while back and I remember enjoying it and I've been craving something light with pine. I figured it would be the perfect time to buy before the prices got too high post-discontinuation. Wife texted me while I was on my way to work, "I think I love your cologne. It has a lot of top notes." So, that's always a good thing!

Korea sounds like eating heaven for this plant material lover! Glad we don't do the desiccated frog thing here, though. This is all so interesting; thank you for taking time to share with us, foxbins!

I meant to send my good wishes for your toe yesterday, Hazel! I happen to know it's not any fun but glad to see you have the proper attitude for good healing. Feel better, toe!

N.Cal hit the button on the Enablement Vortex. Yes, you should definitely try Diorella, and probably Diorama too!

Kotori, I've missed you, too! Been enjoying your recent posts; glad to see you!

I was so happy to see Trilby's kitty names for the Shykitties! I have a Lily right now; her sister Daisy passed a few years ago. I like the flower names for cats.

I'm in Dior Dior today. Here's a bit of my own plant material, the irises are in bloom. Had a fierce rainstorm this morning which as you can see, left as suddenly as it came. This iris is called 'Ocean Pacific' (please disregard the ugly chain link, which is necessary to make good neighbors of the deer) and is being photobombed by a tiny spider, lol.

Good afternoon all !. foxbins, keep the culinary reports coming from Korea - fascinating stuff . That breakfast sounds delicious but I'm afraid my loathing of garlic would probably put a lot of other dishes out of bounds and I'll definitely pass on the desiccated frog . Give me a nice traditional toad-in-the-hole instead .

    Hello all,

I’m wearing Mugler Cuir Impertinent again today. It has amazing projection.

I spent yesterday at the Veterans hospital trying to get my father-in-law settled. It look 2 1/2 hours to drive home in Los Angeles traffic while I entertained myself with old CDs from my collection: Coldplay, Jimi Hendrix, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Rolling Stones, The Byrds, Sinead O’Connor, The Waterboys. I’m going back today to meet with his medical team.

    Have a good day.

Haven't tried it, but La Fumée (Classic) was too understated (wears too close to skin), and Feuilles des Tabac was very weak with no sillage or duration.
