Default Something more long lasting than Tom Ford Noir d noir

    Guys,
Do we know a scent that is close scent profile of noir de noir but more long lasting and beast ? NDN becomes skin scent on my skin very quickly. I tried Armani rose d Arabie but itís not NDN.

    Thanks

You could try Armaf Club De Nuit Intense Women, but Noir de Noir lasts very well for me.

Noir de Noir is a pretty unique composition within the crowded genre of rose-patchoulis. I also find it reasonably long-lasting.

I'd suggest you to try it a couple of times more to see if it lasts enough; ideally try it from different sources to be sure.

Of course, it's possible that it has suffered a terrible reformulation and doesn't last at all now, but I don't know. I last went through a decant of it circa 2016.

How many sprays do you apply? Perhaps increase the number? Also do you happen to moisturize prior to apply the scent? That might help.

Longer lasting? Wow. Noir De Noir is a beast on my skin. 3 sprays are enough that I'll still smell it on me the next morning. The projection isn't monstrous - I wouldn't say it's a room filler, thank god (for a scent this rich, that would be too much) - but it's definitely big and creates quite a scent bubble.

NDN used to be very potent with great longevity and good silage way back in the day, darker in color too. Unfortunately for the last several years NDN has been watered down significantly where it has no longevity or silage. It really should get discontinued.

One fragrance that I would suggest trying would be L'Arte di Gucci by Gucci. It's not the same but it carries that dark rose element like Noir de Noir does.

But it's also a unicorn so good luck finding an affordable price on a significant quantity. Tom Ford Private Blend perfumes are already on the higher end of things though, so if you're buying them at the counter, paying retail niche prices for yesteryear's designers may actually not be that jarring for you within your means.

Tried tester at Nordstrom and Niemen Marcus. I donít think my noise is fatigued. Maybe it is . Who knows !!

I applied very generously . Typical customer , I never go easy on tester :-) After few hours it only has small hints of scent on my skin.

I know lotion helps . Yes my skin is not too dry.

For example javoy private label is still going strong on my skin. I applied Pl at 2pm edt. Right now itís 2am edt and still projecting but little closer to skin. Javoy PL is powerful stuff.

Thread timing is pretty funny, because I'm wearing it today...It's plenty strong, reformulated or not.

Never had an issue with the performance of Noir de Noir either, at least so far during each and every of the few distinct samplings/testings.
However, considering its notes lineup, while also adding and pointing out that the following suggestions may be just very sketchy, subjective and incomplete approximations of NDN, got even better performance on a fairly comparable note structure from: Tasmeem by Rasasi, Habit Rouge EDP, POAL by Malle, Lancetti Uomo Concentree, Chanel Egoiste, Ungaro III Parfum, to name only a few

    1. Spray more.
    2. Hydrate yourself better
    3. Wear it 10-15 times on different days, taking breaks in between - see if longevity is still a problem.
    4. Take a break from wearing (and perhaps more importantly, sampling) perfume for a week or two.

I'm of the opinion that no alternative/replacement will ever solve this issue. Not if you really like the original. If you're not particularly bothered, then I'd recommend getting the Armaf in the first place - you'll save a lot of money and if you do need to overspray to keep it detectable, it's less costly than NdN.

If you do love the original, then try looking out for an older decanter that might pop up on ebay/selling groups. Something pre-2012 according the the batch code. Bit of a risk, of course. Otherwise, consider the possibility that 1-3 will solve your problem. Plenty of TF fragrances remain 'strong'/longlasting without being obviously detectable on the wearer.

I also think #4 might play its part in lots of complaints about performance. The people posting here are likely to be wearing/trying fragrance once a day, perhaps more - in some cases, a lot more. You're basically building olfactive tolerance - wearing a perfume, as opposed to huffing a sample repeatedly, will always smell much softer in comparison. This is maybe one of the blindspots of enthusiasts - too much sampling:wearing ratio.

I've found moisteuriser to be hit and miss. Good hydration is 10x more effective.

There are plenty of rose/oud combos, but Noir de Noir is a grail fragrance for me. I feel like it doesn’t last that long on me either, but it just settles down to a skin scent and there’s probably an element of anosmia. Maybe ask someone to sniff you when you can’t smell it on yourself anymore.

If you want something with more sillage and longevity, try something from Montale or Mancera. Juliette Has a Gun Midnight Oud is also quite good and well priced.

How close is the Armaf to NdN?

I ask because I don't mind good clones at all, but their Aventus clone (Club De Nuit Intense Man) doesn't even come close to the real thing. The base of CDNI is trash. It's frigging norlimbanol and not much else - nowhere even in the same ballpark as Aventus, and I'm not an Aventus fanboy... but the base of CDNI is just 10 cents worth of chemicals. It should come with a sheet of sandpaper to scrape it off. I'm blown away by how many people don't seem to even notice. I guess most people only care about top notes, and that blows my mind.
