Default Fragrances with a dominant 'dried fruits' note

    Hello,

Long time lurker - posting for the first time as I couldn't find a similar thread.

I recently sampled Arabie by Serge Lutens, and absolutely loved it.
That melange of dried fruits and spices - ah, it is one of the most evocative and transportive fragrances I've smelled.

I particularly enjoy the 'dried fruits' note - the juicy dates and figs, particularly in the opening.

Another fragrance that I enjoy a lot and has a similar 'dried fruits' note is Tobacco Vanille.

Wanted to ask if there are any other fragrances I should check out that have a similar juicy 'dried fruits' note?

    Thanks in advance

I personally find that some ouds carry a 'dried fruits' accord. One that springs to mind is Xerjoff's Kampuchea Noir, though that is pretty costly stuff per mL.
Cambodian ouds tend to carry that sweet, almost dried fruits, accord but it does vary within the region of the oud too.

The Givenchy-produced vintage Michael for Men is this to a tee. A sophisticated, sensual masculine built around boozy dried fruits and a slightly animalic-feeling tobacco.

I get this (too much of it actually) from Amouage's Jubilation XXV.

+1 For Michael for men, vintage bottle. It's the bottle that says Givenchy on the bottom and Michael on the front horizontally, the vertical lettering is the reformulated version and very different. The vintage can easily be found on the bay at reasonable prices. BNIB 4.2oz bottles for roughly $60 shipped

I get a bit of this from Egoiste by Chanel. Not Platinum Egoiste! But the original.

Another suggestion: Rahat Loukhoum by Serge Lutens.

Possibly also Idole by Lubin, along with more EDP concentration scents from the same house, for a dried fruit feel if these fruits were preserved, soaked in a pricey and non-spirity type of alcoholic distillate, also to a lesser extent though therefore at a much more inexpensive price point-Trussardi Jeans Men, if powdery, plummy dried fruit notes are required or at least considered/acceptable, same with the regular, first released in 1932 (not necessarily vintage formulation of) Floid aftershave

Lutens was the king of these notes. When I saw the title, I thought of arabie too. In the line, I'll mention also Feminite des bois and Boxeuses (respectively woods and leather with candied fruit).

I would also highly recommend Divine L'Homme Sage--a smorgasbord of dry, dusty, ripened autumnal fruits.

Thanks a lot everyone. Some great suggestions.
Particularly interested in trying Turkish Leather and all the Lutens.

Somehow, for reasons even I don't know, I've somehow always looked past Lutens so far...
just ordered a bunch of decants though to change that

Another Lutens to check out if you haven't already is Fille en Aiguilles. It's a great mix of Christmas tree pine and fruitcake/Christmas pudding.

I'm a big fan of SL Feminite du Bois, but I think Across Sands is precisely what you're looking for. If you love it like I do, I'll split a bottle with you.

    Maison Margiela Across Sands

Top notes: Cinnamon Essence, Osmanthus Absolute, Davana Essence
Middle notes: Date Accord, Everlasting Flower, Cistus Absolute
Base notes: Oud Absolu, Patchouli Essence, Incense Essence

Arabie is wonderful and definitely has the dried fruits note in spades.

Fille en Aiguilles is another with the dried fruit accord, but it is a Christmas cake with the dried fruits along with an amazing pine note. This is perhaps my favorite fragrance ever...at least in my top three.

As mentioned Serge Lutens is the house to find the dried fruit accord in more often than perhaps any other house around. I also agree that Jubilation XXV has the dried fruit accord and is also amazing.

Another vote for Arabie. The first time I smelt it way back in the late 90s I thought dried figs.
