    Default Advice on blend

    Hello everyone.

This is a long shot but I'm going to push my luck I'll try to make this relatively succinct and I appreciate any help anyone can offer. I've finally decided to delve into the world of DIY perfumery after becoming dissatisfied with niche and artisanal perfume houses. This would be purely for my own use.

I would like some advice on a blend I'd like to create using my favourite notes. This is going to sound insane especially from somebody who has no experience. I have managed to get my hands on a high quality artisanal distillation Indonesian santalum album sandalwood and thai oud oil from an organic farm. The two go amazingly together. I would like to add to this orris root, frankincense, rose and ambergris tincture and perhaps vanilla with a high vanillin content but I'm inclined to not use it. Yes I know it's going to be insanely expensive...

For the orris root what is the difference between the butter and the absolute?
I prefer the scent profile of rose otto to absolute, would it be worth using rose enfleurage?
How to use ambergris tincture? What are the differences in scent profile between different types of ambergris?
Vanilla tincture or CO2 vanilla? What is the difference?

Quality, natural materials differ greatly batch to batch.
Ouds - there`s thousands of different types...each is unique.
Same with ambergris, sandalwood, and even roses too differ greatly batch to batch.

With this said; I feel the advice you are looking for is hard to come by on the internet.
If you actually gather together these quality materials, which will cost you thousands of dollars...

1). read everything here (very helpful)

2). pick and choose info from the above link...info that will help you

For the orris root what is the difference between the butter and the absolute?
    - you will have to smell the difference for yourself

I prefer the scent profile of rose otto to absolute, would it be worth using rose enfleurage?
    - you will have to smell rose enfleurage your self to decide this...
Home made rose enfleurage, I would imagine, is not as intense as rose otto absolute

    How to use ambergris tincture?
....its in alcohol, just add it to your accord
    https://www.fragrantica.com/notes/Ambergris-524.html

What are the differences in scent profile between different types of ambergris?
    - you have to smell various ambergris to see this for yourself.
They all smell like "ambergris," but each ambergris rock is unique

Vanilla tincture or CO2 vanilla? What is the difference?

Vanilla tincture will be a lot weaker than the CO2. Either way, don't add very much, or you will overpower the rest.
Rose Otto is fine... The two are diffeent odor profiles, and enfleurage is even still different, it's all up to you and your pocketbook.
Iris butter is fine to buy, it dissolves easily into alcohol.

In your list of materials, you don't really have much in terms of topnotes, you might want something for that bit.
