    Hello all,

Thank you so much for the birthday wishes on Monday. I appreciate your kind words. My participation on Basenotes is a little spotty for the time being due to handling eldercare transitions for my husband’s parents. It’s very time consuming.

    Have a good day.

Trilby Lark, happy belated birthday to you! Wish you all the best!

Today is my mom's birthday and I'm wearing Narciso Rodriguez For Her EDT for this occasion. My mom turns 60 today and of course we'll have a party in the evening. She didn't want a huge party, just some red wine (her favourite!) and a meal with the closest friends and relatives. I took several days off work so I'll be able to spend more time in my hometown with the family.

Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

To show my support for our Saint Louis Blues who are playing tonight for the Stanley Cup, I am wearing (& sharing) L’Heure Bleue vintage extract & edp.
I love the thought behind this fragrance. “The sun has set, but night has not yet fallen. It’s the suspended hour.... The hour when one finally finds oneself in renewed harmony with the world and the light.” Jacques Guerlain 1912

I first learned of LHB from reading Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander in 1991. The protagonist, Claire, wears LHB.
I was curious about the scent & found a blue paper clad box in an antique store whilst shopping in Upper Montclair, NJ.

Top notes: Bergamot, lemon, coriander, aniseed, tarragon, clary sage, neroli
Heart notes: Bulgarian rose, iris, heliotrope, ylang ylang, orchid, carnation, violet
Base notes: Tonka bean, vanilla, sandalwood, cedar, musk, vetiver & benzoin

Ooooh, RHM, nice, moody imagery of a beautiful Guerlain.

Mike, DH is moving around almost like normal. He just has to refrain from doing too much. He'll be walking a 5k on Fathers Day with our daughter. Thanks for asking. Toe-kisses for Giancarlo.

I'm wearing the refreshing Carthusia Aria di Capri -- mimosa, iris, lemon, orange, peach.

I received my Yves Rocher order today. I like their liquid soaps for hand or hair washing. The scented liquid soaps I had been using have been replaced, so I'm trying six new ones, and they all smell great: Lavender & Blackberry (smells just like those 2 notes, berry dominant), Lotus Flower (nondescript and fruity), Peach & Star Anise (realistic edible peach!), Grapefruit Thyme (tempered grapefruit), Olive Petitgrain (soft, unisex green), and the new limited-edition My Green Summer (unisex green tea/evergreen). MGS is also available as an edt; the notes: mint, lemon, lime, bergamot, peppermint, tonka bean.

I haven't been taking pix of most of my projects because some element is awaiting completion or they sit adjacent to something that looks ragged and undone, but I got out and took some shots today to prove I'm not full of hot air. I think of close-up flower shots as a sort of cop-out -- nature really did all the work, but I'll throw in some "pretties" anyway.

The project finished yesterday is a deer-protection frame for the mockorange shrub. I know "flower beds" have been done a zillion times before, but what makes this bedstead special is the portion nearest us in the photo was found just a couple dozen yards from where I'm using it now. The taller headboard and double-loop fencing I bought off Craigslist. Maybe it's all the rain we've gotten, but the mockorange blossoms aren't fragrant so far this year.

RHM, beautiful photos of your L'HB. I love it too, and I've worn it since my 20's.

Quarry, I've never seen or heard of a flower "bed" until yours! What a fun thing to do.

Trilby Lark, taking care of aging folks is hard work. Please take care of yourself, too.

Still in the high 90's here and I'm wearing a boatload of Rhubarb Ecarlate for a day of errand-running and appointment-making.

You smell great today, foxbins! The Hermes rhubarb is terrific, if very fleeting. I'm going through my samples of it quickly!

Happy 60th to your mom, ClockworkAlice! I agree with Q about your presence at home being a wonderful gift.

Q and RHM, such lovely photos today!
