    Hey Matt,

I have used them before and actually just placed an order with them a couple days ago. Their stuff is pretty high quality - at least the materials I have (cypress abs, black spruce abs, blood cedar, templin fir, cinnamon back abs and a few others). The cypress and black spruce absolutes are really, really nice!

Molly, the owner, is super nice and helpful, and shipping is fast and inexpensive. Plus, she gives several samples (3-4) so just request them in the comment section when you order.

I can let you know what the new materials are like when they arrive in a day or two - birch tar, petitgrain, geranium heart, cypriol heart, coriander and davana.

    Hey Barry, sounds good.
I'm really trying to work a conifer, ambergris accord...
I want to express the scent textures I encounter in Stanley Park...

I have this weird theory that once the texture is right,
The perfume can do nothing but smell good.

Will have to load up on conifer materials!
Mandy After has some pretty good conifer materials as well.....

    They go fantastic with labdanum

Although I like the dryness of Virginia Cedar, Himalayan Cedar has my nose engaged lately.
Right out of the bottle it has a medicinal quality to it. As it dries down, more of a menthol scent comes forward.
When I first smelled it I knew I had to try and build something around it.

I purchased it with some other oils from Bulk Apothecary.

I also tried a sample of fir balsam abs from ZOils and as you might imagine it’s really nice. I haven’t ordered from Mandy Aftel but her site seems to have lots of interesting materials. I’d really like to try her Poplar Buds Absolute!

Try out Steele's attars from perfumers apprentice.
    He also has quality materials.

The thing with these high end naturals is their complexity. Impossible to recreate.
I reach for odd/unique naturals when I really want to make something out of this world.

Of course, they can be backed up with synthetics...
And sometimes even excentuated with snythetics...
But they ARE the star of the show.
