My favorite, by far, is 1725. The more I wear it, the more I love it - especially the base. Holy moly, it just gets better as the hours pass. If I had to limit my entire wardrobe to only 5 scents, 1725 would be one of them.

    Modern? Check!
    Masculine? Check!
Sharp? ...not so much. It's smoooooooth.

While others often complain of its longevity, my go-to lavender is Diptyque Eau de Lavande. It lasts all day for me when sprayed under my shirt.

Have you tried the By Kilian everyone is suggesting above? Many people call it a 'modern' version of CPUH. I agree.

    I don't think you'll like Oxford & Cambridge - it's too minty.

Do you like licorice? Have you smelled Hermessence Brin de Reglisse by Hermes? I'm wondering if you'll think it's 'masculine'. I wear the hell out of it.

Haven't had much luck with by Kilian but maybe I'll get a sample. I've never smelled the Hermes but I really enjoy a nice licorice note when it's done right! Hmm, off to do some sampling.

A Taste of Heaven is excellent--easily my favorite Kilian fragrance and also my favorite pure lavender (well it's mostly pure...combined with absinthe and vanilla here but lavender is still the focus). Unfortunately, it's really hard to find a bottle of this stuff. I had to buy THREE fakes until I finally bought a real bottle of it, and the people who sold me the fakes didn't even realize they were fake. So be careful if you go that route--pay close attention to the black lacquer box and the paper box packaging. But the "refill bottles" are still pretty easy to find (and aren't faked), and probably the best way to go at this point. You'll just need an atomizer to decant them into.

A Taste of Heaven is CPUH on steroids and with a million dollar inheritance. It's great.

And I still recommend the Rania J. as well, and think you'd like it. It's a nice balance between interesting niche and easy-to-wear.

My favorite recent lavender discovery is Darley by Parfums de Marly. Not a sharp lavender, but warm and comforting.

According to your description, what would fit is:

    - Lavande by Molinard (a carbon copy of TF Lavender Extreme for a fraction of the price)
    - Serge Lutens Gris Clair (my favourite)
    - MFK Masculin Pluriel (the one I like the less - and expensive similarly to TF Lavender Extreme)

Serge Lutens has also 2 other lavender-centered frag, but that are not really "sharp" nor really "masculine", more unisex:
    - Fourreau Noir (strong lavender with sweetness in the background)
    - Encens et Lavande (very airy one, delicate, definitely unisex, maybe leaning feminine because of how delicate it is)

Totally agree. It's become my favorite barbershop fougere hands down. The amber and mint really sets it apart and takes the composition to another level. Just wish it wasn't so expensive, but it's worth every penny.

If the rumors are correct (which they always seem to be so far) it is coming out in his mainline next year. So wait a year or two and it'll be had at ~$80/ 100ml. At that price I would buy too.

If you mean modern as something presented after say 1960 and exists in my wardrobe, I would say Guerlain Heritage and Creed Bois du Portugal which lead in with notes of Lavender. However Bugatti 1992 is in the top Five as it's heartbeat, is Lavender.

It's almost pretty much lavender and pepper.

Guess it's not niche enough to hang with the lettermen after school.

I need to get to L'Occitane to try this one. Super close to my work I just despise the mall.

I did pick up the Molinard today for super cheap...blind buy.

The lavender fades fairly quickly on me with this one, and them I'm left with a peppery tonka with a background hint of lavender. Still nice enough, though!
