I think Hermes 24 Faubourg and Dior Diorissimo smell expensive.
    Princess Diana wore both scents.

I've never given much thought to what smells like money - it's never come up, actually.

But I blind bought this recently and am totally not sorry. It's the top step of the ladder that began with Nautica Pure Discovery and progressed through Trump Success before getting to this one. A local grocery liquidator was clearing out an inventory of Bilt body wash that has that strong seashore note and it nicely complements the Bond.

I also agree with the one or two people who said Serge Lutens. I know he actually doesn't have the most expensive "niche perfume", but to me, Serge Lutens fragrances just smell expensive! To me, a number of them make me think of a really well dressed, classy, handsome man in a suit! I can't explain why, they just strongly give me that image..they seem classy. I actually get that vibe from a lot of that line moreso than, say, Tom Ford, although that line seems a lot more popular. It makes me feel very disappointed that a lot of Serge Lutens fragrances aren't carried here anymore. It's a shame.

I love 24 Faubourg and Diorissimo! Those are both great scents too, that strongly seem both classy and classic to me! Again, I would agree that they both smell expensive.

Thank you for pointing out that a "classy man in a suit" can also be a butler! XD You just shattered my whole perception of some fragrances now! XD

I was being somewhat charitable in my relative comparison, as I was originally pondering "footman" instead of butler.

Seconding this, almost any vintage Chanel, irrespective of the year, gender, market segment divide (closer to niche or to designer), actual naming etc. smells this way to me- like sitting in a French version of a masterfully designed and even crafted luxury roadster or limousine, upholstered in the finest LVMH fabrics and/or leathers.

Redolent of classic vintage chypre notes, dressed to the nines or even beyond in terms of not just luxury and extravagance as much as distinguished tastefulness and intellectual creativity summed up in a few iconic outfits. Waiting to show up at some exclusive and elitist social call at one of the finest Parisian gourmet fine dining restaurant,

as much as at the Paris opera or any Parisian/French Riviera embassy, boutique hotel, art gallery or other point of contact for not just extremely successful, famous and admired but also wildly fascinating and mild mannered brilliant minds.

Perhaps vintage No. 19, No. 5, Cristalle, Antaeus, Egoiste, pour Monsieur, as well as a few among both the feminine and the masculine flankers of the Allure, not even getting in to their designer exclusive/niche tier fragrance lines, as likely the most striking, but by far not the only Chanel examples and role models for this particular image/idea.

Like our fellow Basenotes contributor quite often and very accurately described the house of Chanel as "very French, very Old School, very elegant, very exclusive"-all this in a highly positive and inspiring way.

based on what people say on Fragrantica, no! I haven't smell it myself! But I guess the game at TF was let's water down the whole line and later we'll serve flankers!
