Default Is L'Eau D'Issey Pour Homme by Issey Miyake a blind buy?

Hello everyone, I am beginning to create a small collection of fragrances. It is very hot and humid here in the summer, and I have heard that L'Eau D'Issey Pour Homme is a good choice for this weather. But unfortunately, I cannot find a place to try it in the store. Do you think the chances are high that I would like it? I'm also thinking about Terre d'Hermes Eau Tres Fraiche or Versace Man Eau Fraiche. I have tried those ones and like them, but they are more expensive.

I hear that the current L'Eau D'Issey is a shadow of its former self and isn't worth buying.

Can't know for sure, but if you feel like the price is right for you, give it a shot.

My bottle is current as of the last 3 years and is quite lovely to me.

Also, this is better than Versace Man Eau Frâiche (although VMEF is still good)

I don't think so. I'm glad I sampled it first. The citrus/floral parts of it are nice, but man oh man, the base smells like harsh chemicals.

    Sample first.

Mine is a modern bottle, and I have never tried the vintage, but I have to say that I quite like it. I had purchased my bottle during the winter time, and the opening blast of bitter Yuzu took me a minute to come around to.

However, once the weather warmed up, I found myself liking this one a lot more. One day in particular, I was crazy hot and decided to douse myself in it. Oh my, that was just what the doctor ordered. I was basking in the cooling citrus and found myself enjoying this one more than I had previously. I had purchased the Bleue flanker at the same time as this one, and had always leaned toward preferring that one. Not anymore.

It's safe in that it's not offensive, and there are no weird notes that I can imagine anyone would find off-putting. That being said, it might be worth testing because it could come across a bit synthetic, as mentioned above. I blind bought it though and it was a nice spring/summer citrus/floral dumb reach.

I don't own L'Eau D' Issey but I do have the other two you mentioned and both would be good for a hot and humid type climate. You might also consider Dior Homme Sport and/or Dior Homme Cologne.

It was a blind buy for me. I wouldn't have bought it had I smelled it first. For me, there's something off-putting about it...sort of reminds me of cat urine in a way.
Grey Flannel by Geoffrey Beene should cost $275 for a 100 ml.

It is one of the most common/mainstream scents out there - shouldnt be hard to find/sample.

L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme isn't the most natural scent and never was, but it's a great classy freshie for folks that want something like Acqua di Giò Pour Homme but more distinctive and stronger (same perfumer anyway).

Agreed. I bought it blind early on in the hobby and gave it away. Nice sprayer, tho.

Thanks, everyone! I visited a new shopping mall today and found a sample. I like it! To me, this doesn't smell as soapy as Acqua di Gio, or as crisp as Versace Man Eau Fraiche. It's different than those, but I think almost anyone could enjoy it.

Especially if liking this one even more after testing, a possible purchase may now be much less risky and more rewarding

If you liked the Leau Dissey sample Carolina Herrera 212 Men NYC. It's a floral metallic to me. Its gooooood stuff. For some reason Leau Dissey works better in the winter on me. It lasts 8 hours, when in the summer it seems to be very fleeting after an hour of ridiculous strong projection.

Thank you Jason, I will add that to my list of fragrances to try! I also bought a 125ml bottle of L'Eau D'Issey Pour Homme for about 350 yuan (about $50). It's going to be my casual fragrance for summer. Unfortunately, fragrances are very expensive here, so I think this was a good value. 100ml of Versace Man Eau Fraiche is about 450 yuan (~$65), and 50ml of Acqua di Gio is about 350 yuan. Maybe those are a little bit expensive for me, because I will usually wear this fragrance when I go for a walk or go shopping.

Hi everyone, I was wondering if you could give me some advice: I have purchased L'Eau D'Issey, and Bleu de Chanel EDP. Recently, I found an opportunity to buy Versace Pour Homme or Versace Man Eau Fraiche for a good price. Can you please tell me which one would go better with the ones I already have?

L'Eau D'Issey Pour Homme smelt lovely on paper for me.
Unfortunately I really don't like it on my skin.

Smells too much like wet, cut grass. Just too green for me.

I'm sure on others it smells very crisp and fresh.

More love for this stuff which, to me, smells like water, lol. Tap water. Begrudgingly, I'm gonna have to give it another shot.
