Default Vintage CH MEN - Help with this fragrance

There are those who refuse to believe that reformulations have any impact on a fragrance. “I don’t care about reformulations, it still smells good” but then there are those, like me, who can tell the difference in prior fragrances and their new reforms. The difference may be big or it may be small, but there are differences. Which some people could care less, and that’s fine too, but I feel like seeking out the vintages are what make my fragrance adventure... an adventure.

So with that being said, I have stumbled on a 2010 3.4oz of CH MEN for $35. I have never smelled CH MEN personally, but I have researched it plenty of times in the past to know the the “RED RIBBON” means it’s vintage. I have read several comments stating they prefer the red ribbon over the current version, and also read that they can barely tell a difference in the two.

Can some body who has experience with this fragrance give me some feedback on what they think about this bottle. Is it legit? And what about the batch code? Are they normally on a sticker or etched onto the bottle? As far as the smell, it smells wonderful. It has a sugary, leather, grassy type smell that is very enjoyable. I haven’t had it long enough to comment on longevity.

    Thanks again!

Default Vintage CH MEN - Help with this fragrance

Just seeing your thread. I have an original release bottle and the batch number is etched. And Iíve seen etching on bottles up to 2012 editions. But there are plenty examples of vintage batch numbers on the sticker. It is possible that printing and etching occurred from the very beginning but varied depending on the packaging machine. Who knows? Iíve never given the fragrance enough thought to think about fakes with it. So what do I overall think about your bottle? If itís fake, then itís a well done one. At quick glance, it looks right. The only two areas of concern for me is that (1) the faux leather label appears to have a varied thickness instead of a consistent one (see below where your bottleís looks thinner at the middle) but that could just be something odd with the picture. And (2) Iíve never seen the batch code appear to be stamped on as a messy afterthought. All the batch codes Iíve seen had the batch codes nicely printed (like below, which was taken from the internet) and not appear to have been stamped to the point you can actually see the outer rim of the stamp. Other than than, it looks legit. AND IT VERY WELL MAY BE LEGIT. I would need more time to study it and compare it next to my bottle. Whatís most important is how you like and feel about it. Best of luck!

Edit: PS, keep in mind that I looked at it with a critical eye because I perceived youíre suspicious about the bottle. Iím in no way an authority on CH Men. Rather just look at my post as someone playing devilís advocate and being nitpicking. Again, best of luck!

Thanks for the Feedback! I have seen some fake and it doesn't take more than two seconds to realize they are fakes. The ribbon, leather, and batch codes were all out of wack and looked off center. If this is a fake, then it has to be one of the best I have ever seen. The quality of the glass, cap, and ribbon are top notch. I do see what your saying about the leather! The batch code is what is causing me to be suspicious, oh well, I only spent a small amount on it. I would just like to have that confidence that its real so there is no second guessing ya know?.

    Thanks again!

Youíre welcome. And I very well know second guessing. I want to be optimistic and say itís just fine. And Iím pulling for you that it is. I collect vintages and have many times overthought the process to my wits end. The batch code is suspect. But that simply means I donít know the correct answer instead of it being a fake. And truly, if it smells like the right thing and you love it, especially considering you didnít pay a lot for it, then enjoy it in good health!
