Unhappy Decant got skunked in car

Well, it happened. Far faster than I thought it would. I left a 3ml glass decant of some fragrance of mine (can't remember which one) in my car for about 3 weeks. It wasn't even that hot out but has been warming up. Mostly cloudy, a few days up into the high 70s. Yes it was sitting in an open cup holder so when the sun came in, it baked it.

I can't say I'm surprised. I'm just surprised at how fast it happened. And what a godawful smell it became. BAD. Glad I didn't leave an entire bottle in there. It was nasty. Smelled like sour ass. Horrible.

I'm a believer! Never again will I store a frag in a car for more than a day or two, and in cool weather (and out of the light).

    Terrible!

cars are not a good environment for fragrances, which it seems you know. believe ive read on a sunny day when it is 70 degrees outside the inside of a car can reach 115 in only an hour or so.

I can't tell you how many people I know who keep it in their car. In my younger days, I never thought much of it. But now it just boggles my mind, people buying a one hundred dollar bottle of cologne and letting it get destroyed.

Even before I knew how important it was to keep them out of heat and sunlight, it would never have crossed my mind to store one in my car.

Yeah, I think it's weird too. I think people do it just to be able to apply it whenever they want when they're away from home.

Yeah, keeping a small decant in your pocket or bag should do the trick.

I'd prefer not to carry it in my pocket, don't have a bag, and definite no to keeping it in the car.
By bag, I hope you don't mean 'man-purse' haha!
Though I'm getting close to needing something to take to work with me every day. Most of my co-workers use backpacks, but I don't know. A backpack in the workplace, as opposed to out in the wilderness or the gym, looks juvenile to me.
That's neither here nor there. Anyway, scents in cars is bad, mmkay? lol

I keep some decants in the glove compartment. But if I’m parked outdoors I usually leave a window open, just a crack. I find it helps reduce internal overheating.

I keep a couple of Lush solid perfumes in the car in case of emergency. Suppose they could, in theory, melt, but not likely in a standard English "summer".

Yeah, I wish I could keep some decants in my car because often I'm away from home and would like some sort of selection for when I go out with friends or whatever. I really need something like this. I'm thinking I may try some sort of insulated, light-proof container I could keep in the trunk where things don't get quite as hot.

I guess it depends on the climate. You could keep it in a cooler of some sort. But that won't last long if you're dealing with sweltering heat. I wouldn't trust it.

I freak out when I buy a bottle of fragrance and my drive home is an hour or more and I know its sitting in the trunk in this sweltering Texas climate.

Why don't you just keep it with you in the cabin with A/C running?

When i was a young man of say 16 years old i used to keep junkers in my car for spot sprays when you spot some females or something. Or maybe cover up some cigarette smell before school.
It’s tragic to think that heroic man’s great destiny is to become economic man, that men will be reduced to craven creatures who crawl across the globe competing for money, who spend their nights dreaming up new ways to swindle each other.

Ah man, I remember those days. All my friends smoked and most of them kept a bottle in their car to mask the smell, which never worked, lol. I had forgotten all about that! They would also put a few sprays on before going into the mall to walk around.

Can't imagine it would. Unless you used a nuclear amount of sprays.

I keep some decants and full bottles in my car (none that I deem very important though, just emergency grabs or stuff I spray prior to gym) and they are all fine quality wise, however I noticed on a few of my decants (although professionally containered) they lost some liquid due to evaporation.

I park my car usually in a structure at work and in a garage at home but sometimes I do park in the sun if I am out there elsewhere. It can be for hours too if I am at the mall or something. And it does get hot in the car.

I dont notice any scent though. The decants are in my middle glove compartment and in the trunk.
