    Hello everyone!
I was a bit sick last week and didn't wear fragrance most days, just wore some light citrus scents on the weekend and yesterday because I was already feeling better.

Today in a hurry I forgot to apply a fragrance and felt I am missing it. Luckily I found an almost empty vial of Black Opium in my bag – I am keeping it there for "emergencies" like this – so I applied very very lightly and now I'm happily smelling of coffee and vanilla faintly.

Good morning. I am just getting used to having a newly-retired husband around
full-time. It will need a bit of adjustment on both sides I think! Any tips??

kewart - good luck for figuring that out. I have a similar situation - my partner started working from home much more often now, rather than working from an office. It's been interesting. The way he interacts with me, the divisions between work/home are a bit blurry. We've had to communicate a lot recently - which is not a problem for us. The adjustment has been much easier when we get to communicate about it.

I wore some Mugler Cologne by Thierry Mugler to Cross Fit + after a very hot shower (I stink) I am going to give my first full wearing to a decant that I have been ignoring:

Kewart, congratulations to your husband! I haven't been in this position (and quite likely won't, ever) but would like to say to remember to take some time for just you - I am never alone in our house, so will often just go out on the porch with a cup of coffee or a light cocktail, or ice water, depending on the time of day and day of week, and just sit by myself for awhile, not have to talk and interact.

Kewart, hopefully your husband has some kind of hobby? Mine likes pottering in the garage and is an avid cyclist. I myself go to a lot of yoga classes and take the dog for long walks, so we have plenty of alone time to ourselves. Also, I love to read and he loves to watch TV, so we are in separate rooms most evenings.

Having a bit of an orange blossom fit, sprayed on four different things in an effort to find just the right one. Finally I decided to go with Kilian Love Don’t be Shy. Gorgeous sunny day here!

Was offline yesterday enjoying Canada Day, belated congratulations to Jon, Cook.bot and N.Cal on their BN milestones, it’s great to have you here!

Thanks for the good wishes CuddleCat, I’m still a bit wobbly but better than last week. Am going to see what I can manage at yoga class today. Hope you are feeling better as well!

    Eau de Parfum
Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. An article Mr. K may enjoy: Men in the U.S. Are Gathering in Aussie-Style 'Sheds'.

Congratulations, Mr. Kewart! I l-o-v-e retirement. I think it allows one to finally blossom into one's full, true self. Happily, Mr. Q and I like being together as much as possible, so that's not a challenge.

From my perspective, if you've been shouldering the majority of the housework, it's time to delegate and make sure he has daily chores, like emptying the dishwasher and handwashing the pots and pans. Maintaining some routine helps structure the day. Our pattern is early to bed (7-8 p.m.), early to rise (4-5 a.m.), breakfast, then coffee together, then each of us goes nuts with respective chores and projects. Lunch is our big meal (and my last meal of the day), then we spend the afternoon with our tablets and TV. We're big fans of the depth and breadth of education and entertainment available today.

All this is to say, write your own script and savor the moments.

PL, I forgot to say that your velvet-red daylily is simply stunning. I share your frustration when flowers won't perform on cue. Your rainbow patch is lovely to imagine though.

It feels too muggy for almost any fragrance. The freshest thing that seemed agreeable is Yves Rocher Thé Vert, green tea and lemon.
    I don't want to. I don't have to. You can't make me. I'M RETIRED.

Thanks for all the advice folks. I knew I could count on you.

    We have our own interests - he's sporty and does karate, hill-walking and running;
I do arty things like singing and playing the piano and I volunteer every Thursday.
We like to go bird-watching together and both enjoy watching Netflix in the evening or
catching up with social media and the News online. He is also a landlord so that keeps
him busy as does our rather steep garden and photography.

My jobs are the traditonal cooking, washing and cleaning, whilst he takes care of the cars,
exterior of the house and any heavy lifting jobs in the garden. He also does all the bills, tax
etc. for which I am very grateful.

    I think we'll muddle through!!

After a day of light gardening, I plan to wear Joop Le Bain following my bath.

On a mission to recreate some of the cuisine we experienced in France as a surprise for Jenny today. Attempting mussels in cream and white wine sauce followed by Le Colonel which is basically lemon sorbet drizzled with chilled vodka. Wish me luck

Sounds like a delicious dinner, Jon!

An intense thunderstorm with hail and high winds moved through last night and a tornado touched down about two miles from here, uprooted a couple of trees but nobody was hurt and not much property damage--some fences and the sidewalk. It was quite exciting, usually it's the foothills and the east side of the Cascades that get the interesting weather. Lost power for just a few minutes, only long enough to have to go around resetting the clocks. SOTD is Lys Carmin.

Thanks for the kind words, N.Cal (from last evening) and Quarry!

Congratulations and happy retirement to Mr. kewart! No advice but I think you two won't need it!

Well it's my turn for pet related heartache. I don't think my Lily cat is going to make it through the week. Right now she's resting cozily in a duvet and accepting all the petting and love I can give her. Just hoping this kitty gets a peaceful end at home; she's been an exceptional companion. Some may remember, she is the one who rode out a tornado with me in the basement several years ago and kept nerves of steel the whole time. We're not sure how old she is but we do know she's at least 18; we got to spend 16 of those years with her. I already dread the way the house will feel without her. Just a light dose of Eau Premiere today so as to not disturb my furbaby.
