    Default Gunpowder fragrances?

Recently i tried the Xerjoff Don which is a boozy gunpowder fragrance. I liked the gunpowder, but hated the overly sharp boozy scent it developed into.
Out of curiousity, i like to try more Gunpowder fragrances without the harsh boozy note. I prefer it to develop into something woody and simple.
Can you recommend something to try?
    Thanks

Also Creed Himalaya. Very cool fresh, contains a gunpowder note and absolutely no boozy notes.

    Comme des Garçons Amazingreen

Here's an interesting segment of a review for it that may give you an idea about it:

Picture the scene. It is the beginning of spring, and the world is once again going through the wonderful process of renewal, and to celebrate the season of rebirth you decide to take a relaxing walk through your local forested area. Shortly into your walk you come across a body of water, and stop to take in the beautiful fragrances of green peppery vegetation, and the calming fresh aspect of the water. Everything is so fresh, so invigoratingly youthful, and you feel wonderfully alive, but as you take in the aroma of freshness, an immediate hint of smoky danger assaults your nostrils. Is there a fire in the distance? Is that gunpowder? You do not know, but you know one thing for sure. Your calming walk through the forest is about to get very interesting indeed.

I was a bit underwhelmed by the gunpowder note in Amazingreen. It's a nice green scent but it's very friendly and bright, and if the gunpowder is in there, it doesn't put much of a dent in the green notes. I was hoping for something really acrid and smoky but it seemed like it got lost in the other notes.

Hmm. I found it pretty punchy and apparent.

I guess the key is to sample first.

I only sprayed it on my forearm in Nordstrom so maybe a full wearing would bring it out more. Did you find the gunpowder to be more apparent in the top notes or base? I had sampled a bunch of other stuff that day so my nose might've been worn out by the time the gunpowder appeared. I'll have to sample again.

There is an artisan soap maker called Chiseled Face, and they make great shaving products. They also make EdPs, which I think are just stronger versions of their aftershaves. Anyway, their Ghost Town Barber scent features gunpowder. Check it out.

I haven't smelled it, but DS & Durga's Spent Musket Oil might be what you're looking for. Gunpowder isn't an official note, but at least one reviewer on Fragrantica claims to pick it up. Unfortunately this was a limited release so might be hard to find.

Really? Never thought of it, or noticed anything even close to it. Just salty and fresh.

This was several years ago, so my memory's a little fuzzy on it, but I seem to remember it coming out stronger in the mid + base.

    HBK,

I just learned about this functionality a few months ago. But you can search all fragrances on BN by note. So if you search for gunpowder, you find the list here: http://www.basenotes.net/fragrancedi...powder&submit=

There are 17 that show up.

its there, but it’s pretty dialed back and disappears pretty soon. Maybe it gets lost as an incense like note or disappears into the sandalwood and cedar for you. To me , it provides a nice accent, but I wouldn’t exactly call Himalaya a gunpowder scent. YMMV.
    1. No, never blind buy (I do, but do as I say, not as I do. I'm taking no responsibility for your fragrance gambling).
    2. Get them both. You're a Basenoter and you know you're going to end up purchasing them both eventually.
    3. Yes, it has been reformulated.
    4. Looking for a signature scent? You've come to the wrong place.

The propellant used in shotgun shells--post cordite--has a very distinct smell that I like--associated forever in my mind with the smell of Hoppes No.9. Would love to find this in a fragrance.
Very clearly a case for corn flakes and classics
