    That, and that.

Doesn't Black Phoenix have entire lines of stuff devoted to this theme? You should probably just go sample almost everything from that house.

More like a sweetened vanillic smoky barbecue. A bit of electrical fire acridity in there as well. None of the rancid aspects of a burning corpse.
    Most worn:

Black Comme des Garçons, Borneo 1834 Serge Lutens, Patchouli Santa Maria Novella

Currently wearing: Black Vines by Kerosene

Wouldn’t you say, the choice of a death perfume resides in what ‘death experiences’ we may have had?
Madonna lilies on a wake are enough to drive everyone out the room with their claustrophobic scent.
Incense used especially during funeral ceremonies in churches are strongly associated so in our minds.
Jasmine, oliban and oud are used in homes of a recent dead in ME.
All these smells despite such associations are pleasant.

There is another kind of a death-perfume as well, which is not mere associations but actual scent of demise.
Death to me is smell of blood, spilled guts, excreta but above all, an odd cold faintly sweaty body odour, it has a cold-metallic front
that you can detect from a distance, that creeps in the room where the dead lie before being taken to the morgue.
It gets overtaken by formaldehyde in morgues otherwise I think people would run screaming from there.

Etat Libre’s SM is a close contender but it still can’t match that cold smell of a dead person’s skin.
That is the antithesis of life. No warmth, and so still.

It can still be, yet with fewer sprays.
It is not a particularly loud nor invasive scent, but still quite strong and long lasting performance that can perhaps be easily feel like being over-applied even in smaller quantities.

Omg. How could I forget this?? I had quite a macabre experience with it in the Aftelier sampling round.
