99F/37C again on Sunday. No point in wasting perfume that will be sweated off in 20 minutes.

Just how hot is it, Ann Miller?

Thumbs up Re: SOTD: Sunday, 21st July, 2019

Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

    Hello everyone and happy Sunday!

No cat photos yet, as I'm still as cat-less as before. The girl who rescued the cat said she didn't have time to get her to the vet on Friday (and she wanted to do that herself, that's a long and pretty story about how they found that cat at their workplace and all the colleagues gathered money for her vet expenses, cat food and some toys and started searching who would want to take her for good), so she said she'll bring her to me next week. I have a slight hunch that she's getting attached to the cat herself and she might want to keep her for herself despite her boyfriend's protests That would be a nice ending for this story, too, I think so

My SOTM was a light application to the neck of some Verveine by L'Occitane - no wrists or arms as I'm maybe planning to visit a new Jo Malone store and test something after doing some cleaning at home. We'll see how it goes. Haven't tried anything from them before. If you have something to recommend me to try, please do. I'm very into citrus (especially grapefruit), woody, spicy or slightly oriental stuff and very not into aquatic or heavily floral stuff. Thinking I'd like to try Lime, Basil & Mandarin first.

Sending some cool breeze wishes to everyone in the heat. It's rather hot this weekend here, too, but after several quite rainy and autumnal weeks (and after the impossible heat through all the June!) this feels just like some proper summer - at last.

ClockworkAlice, as far as my own tastes are concerned, I think you're on the right track with JM. I love citrus too and think this category is where Jo Malone really shines. Lime Basil & Mandarin is a must smell, and I like their Grapefruit probably best of all. Basil & Neroli is also great and might be up your alley.

Grateful thanks and hugs right back atcha (((HoP)))!

Soo hot and yuck, wet! Steam everywhere! Can't even see out the windows this morning. Going to try out Yardley's Royal English Daisy, which I haven't worn in a long time. I'm remembering it as a green apple-ish, meadow flowers kind of scent, something like a gentler, less screechy MJ Daisy. Could be nice in this weather. Now off to spritz with fingers crossed that I haven't confused this Yardley with something else!

foxbins - I think like you when it comes to gym/fitness: I am not interested in working out at home or going off on solo runs/walks through my neighborhood. I enjoy the energy and aura of a fitness center / gym, which is why I do Cross Fit and go to a very big, very busy gym 5 times a week. Its easy for me to get caught up in the energy of those around me - especially when most of them are older and fitter than me. I don't have a very competitive spirit, so it's never bothered me to be around other people who have better bodies than me or who can do more athletically than I can, thank goodness. I do *my best* and it keeps me feeling (and looking) very good.

In more of this stuff, I am very intrigued by it. It's probably the most chock-full-of-synthetics Sandalwood-prominent fragrance that I own but the way the perfumer handled it is brilliant. I love the jasmine and how it binds to the sandalwood. I have to make sure this doesn't give me a headache though - some jasmine do.

Thank you for sharing your favourites! I liked Lime Basil & Mandarin and Grapefruit a lot, too. Basil & Neroli was nice, but I didn't love it as much. I also enjoyed Pomegranate Noir, Dark Amber & Ginger Lily, Myrrh & Tonka, and Black Cedarwood & Juniper a lot. I'll definitely come back there sometime to sniff and try out some more.

    Devilcat, happy birthday!

And wishing some cool breeze to everyone in the heat!
