Some daytime some evening some all around

This would cover the $1000 or go a tad above it and suffice for me:

    Gengis Khan
    Burberry London
    Gatsby
    Balafre
    X by Clive Christian 100ml

    Yatagan
    Gengis Khan
    Salty Mango by Strangers Parfumerie
    Slowdive by Hiram Green
    Coriolan by Guerlain
Pegwell Bay by Haeckels (most expensive on my list but worth it)

    Probably US$750

I live in Florida sometimes and I wear these there.

Unless there's some huge sale, I don't see the value in blowing $1000 all at once.

You can get a ton of great juice, especially if you seek out gray market prices. Personally, I would get the following:

    Green Irish Tweed ~ $165
    Virgin Island Water ~ $165
    Aventus ~ $225
    Guerlain Heritage ~ $50
    Guerlain Vetiver ~ $30
    Tuscan leather ~ $140
    D&G The One edp ~ $50
    Aramis Havana ~ $25
    Grand Soir ~ $140

That's right around $990 give or take. These are all the prices I've paid for brand new bottles as well. Use the $10 for a nice pint of Guinness .

    Hmm,

    $300 - Creed - Spice & Wood
    $150 - Creed - Green Irish Tweed
    $300 - Clive Christian - 1872 for men
$95 - Chanel - Egoiste (or Maison Margiella Jazz Club for $125)
$50 - Acqua Di Parma - Fico di Amalfi
$35 - Taylor of Old Bond Street - Sandalwood
$22 - Ferrari - Bright Neroli (for a citrus-white flower genre similar to 4711/TF-Neroli Portofino, for decent longevity without a heavy price)
    $20 - Nautica Voyage

There would still be room for all of these if you squeeze your budget as cheaply as possible:
    Mugler Cologne
Terre d'Hermes EDT (or find your favorite Jean-Claude Elena fragrance)
    Dior - Fahrenheit

You could consider buying a cheap Aventus-clone if you want an Aventus style scent (if under a budget I 'highly' recommend not burning money on Aventus as it's not needed).

I'm not big on leather scents as I bore of them quickly and they aren't as therapeutic/relaxing as the other notes.
That is a great list of nose-pleasing scents that cover:
    Spicy
    Woody
    Tobacco
    Green
    Floral
    Citrus
    Aquatic

Just do some research and get what you like. I live in Florida too, and have nearly 400 frags, and wear whatever I like (in moderation). Don't let humidity deter you from wearing what you want, because if you apply it right, you can wear anything in any weather.

One that does exceptionally well in Florida weather though is Creed GIT.

    Absolutely.

I live right smack on the Equator - it’s warm AND humid 24/7 all year round. If I were to go with ‘conventional wisdom’ my wardrobe will only have ‘light & fresh’ scents at the sad exclusion of everything else. Where’s the fun in THAT?

    For hot weather, I like:

    1. Elie Saab Essence No. 6 Vetiver

    2. Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche

    3. Guerlain Eau de Cologne Imperiale

Otherwise, I wear a lot of 4. Dior Homme and 5. Chanel Platinum Egoiste.

For indie perfume, I like 6. Rogue Derviche and 7. Rogue Chypre-Siam.

You should still have budget for 8. Histoires de Parfums Patchouli Noir.

    Interesting question.

I could probably be happy in a hot climate with these 8, which maybe is within your budget depending on where purchased from...in some cases, I'd go light on the trigger with certain choices if it were a particularly hot afternoon.

The problem with focusing on the weather is that there's a danger of ruling out so many incredible options. I'd put that aside and get whatever you want. There will be occasions anything can be worn. I always ignore any reviews which say "great for cold winters" etc.

Here in the middle east it will be approaching 80-90% humidity soon but that wouldn't stop me wearing some heavier stuff during the evenings (never in the day as for me it just doesn't work although many of the local population love super heavy scents for the daytime).

In no particular order but also considering the respective weather conditions:

    Sartorial
    Caron pour un Homme
    Eau Sauvage Parfum
    Armani Eau pour Homme
    ADP Colonia Assoluta
    Aramis Tuscany
    Lalique Homme EDP
    Azzaro pour Homme l'Eau

should there still be some cash left from the initial budget, given that most or even all of the aforementioned can be bought (even heavily) discounted:

either La Martina Hombre, Knize Forest or at least one Hugh Parsons fragrance, particularly Blue or Yellow or all of these additional options
