Jon, I found the New Zealand Bellbird YouTube video very interesting to watch. We have Bell Miner birds here in our area which are commonly known here as Bellbirds because of their call. We also have Crested Bellbirds in Australia but they are found more inland then where we live. I don't know how to post a YouTube video direct into my post but here is a link to a Bell Miner YouTube video - hope the link works!

Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

Good morning everyone So far this holiday the weather has been great, but today I woke up to rain. I don't really mind because we're going to a vikingmuseum later. Sotd is Santal Carmin. I really enjoy this. It does remind me slightly of Egoiste and Safran Troublant. Both which I like Have a great day all

    Hello!

Kitty has been brought to the vet to be neutered and chipped. Poor kitty wasn't given any food since yesterday evening and meowed and cried sadly all the way to the vet. Kitty will be taken back home in the evening and will get as many cuddles as she pleases. I'm doused in Le baiser du dragon today, this spicy resinous almondy and a bit boozy scent with some sweet jasmine has instantly and strongly become my favourite. I feel like I have finally found a scent that feels absolutely "me" and is both soothing and invigorating at once. I'm thinking it might be a bit strong for work, but nobody complained. Though I have worn Opium to work (okay, not the vintage one) and still nobody complained, so who knows. Maybe it's just the perks of working with texts and not having to communicate with people much.

Quarry, happy birthday to your daughter! And have great fun in Disneyland & Disney World! I think your fragrance choice is very thoughtful and lovely.

I had to google Wisconsin's wildlife, too! We are much further North than Wisconsin, but we do not have caribous - they live even further North in Europe, where ineespenes lives. We also don't have chipmunks, raccoons, wild turkeys here, but we have plenty of various deer, rabbits, boars, hedgehogs and red foxes, some beavers, various mice, badgers, weasels, squirrels and an occasional moose, European bison, wildcat or wolf. Bears are almost extinct here and bisons are preserved and loved almost like a national animal (actual "national animal" is a white stork, super common in countryside here). We do not have coyotes in Europe, but just several years ago some jackals started living in Lithuania - a result of warming climate, as it was usually too cold for them here. But yes, our wild nature seems to be quite similar!
I live in a city, so not much wildlife here - that's why I'm envious of your wild visitors a bit. But there are parks and even forests here in Vilnius, so a hedgehog in your yard at night is quite a common view, and I have seen some hares, squirrels, otters, bats and once even a roe deer crossing the street in the city. There are lots of sparrows, great tits, starlings, jays, rock doves, crows, ravens, jackdaws, magpies, white wagtails and swallows in the city, too. I think these are popular through almost all Europe.

Jon, I liked your bellbird video a lot, too! We don't have these beauties here, it was very interesting to see and hear.

ineespenes, glad to know your holiday is going well! Have fun in viking museum today!

    Have a nice day everyone!

Jon's New Zealand Bellbird sounds like me trying to channel Laurie Anderson -- melodious periods interspersed with bouts of squawking.

I haven't worn any scent for almost a week because: heat. Staying indoors under the A/C today, will see if I can enjoy a little Bottega Veneta EDP.

    Mornin' all!

Best of luck to ClockworkAlice's kitty today! Yep, an unpleasant process but gotta be done. I have no doubts she'll be spoiled completely rotten when it's over.

I'm sampling Genny Noir today. If some of the folks who participated in the Retro Roses sample pass could smell this, they'd want to kick me. This would have been a fab addition to that pass; similar to L'Arte di Gucci, which was popular among those we did smell. Genny Noir has additional cool spices and a lovely osmanthus note. Beautiful!! Not sure of date of release but definitely a Retro Rose at heart.

    Good morning, good smelling people.

Hope for a quick recovery for the clockwork kitty, and happy birthday to the offspring of Quarry as well!

Mitsouko for today, it's not really cool enough for it but it's been so rainy it fits. The sprayer on this is ridicuous, it's so strong the perfume bounces off me. Husband started sneezing, and I'm not really overapplied, it just goes everywhere. Maybe I will decant.

Best wishes that Miss Kitty's surgery goes well.

My internal clock woke me at 4:30 am so I wouldn't miss the serviceman's call scheduled for between 8 and 10. *sigh* Oh, well, I'm up, fed the beasties, washed, combed, and made coffee. I'm wearing Suede Osmanthe, so I wouldn't overwhelm the person. They have to walk past the perfume cabinet and will think I'm odd enough then.

I forgot to post my SOTD yesterday I wore Au Dela Narcisse by Bruno Fazzolari and wow what a wonderful narcissus chypre. I loved it immediately! Please try this if you encounter it. It's amazing.

Today I am in a sample of:

    Dirty Neroli by Heretic Parfums

Misnamed. I smell absolutely no neroli. I smell lots of dry non-sweet woods. Nice, sort of like a cumin-less Declaration.

Wearing the lavender fragrance that I've been working on since the meetup...lavender, hay and oakmoss are most prevalent I wanted the fragrance to smell like a mown lavender field. It sort of has that smell that we have here in the Midwest when wildflowers and prairie grasses are cut and left to sit for a day in the sun. It's just what I was going for.

On a personal note...we've been looking at houses for the last month. We're in a townhouse now and it's somewhat large for a townhouse...but with my many hobbies and having to have clothing for about 140 degrees of variance we're seeking more space and a yard. Unfortunately, the state that I live in absolutely gouges it's residents in property taxes which from what we've been looking are in the ballpark of $9K-$13K. This is why I'd prefer to start anew elsewhere but my wife is holding position on staying where we're at. The whole process is a weird mix of excitement, nervousness, hesitation and anxiousness. I wonder if the experience is like that for everyone?

I’m trying to use the last dregs of Escale a Portofino today. I’m tipping the bottle oddly so the straw can get to them, but alas, not yet finished.

Rynegyne, our hometown is expensive, that’s for sure, but starting anew elsewhere isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. After four years away, I’m trying to figure out a way to go home.
My only regrets in life are the people I haven't stood up for,
and the perfumes I've thrown away.
