Default Jeremy Fragrance's method of spraying - yes or no?

    Hello,
So Jeremy does 5 sprays. One to the nape, one to each side of the neck, and one to the left and right shirt collar.
I wonder why he doesn't spray his arms. Anybody else follow this method too?
Is this enough for good projection.
I live in a hot humid city, so fragrance dissipates quite fast. Most fragrances become skin scents for me in a couple hours tops.
Do you recommend a better method? Is there a reason to be spraying your arms as well or do most people like leaving it at the neck area?

    Depends on the perfume.

Use 8-10 sprays, and spray away from your nose.

    Whatever works for you.

I avoid spraying on my arms because it tends to transfer the scent to my clothes and furniture.

Maybe including some sprays under your clothes (I only spray on my chest, but I like to keep my fragrance to myself) and on clothes with help prolong longevity somewhat.
    1. No, never blind buy (I do, but do as I say, not as I do. I'm taking no responsibility for your fragrance gambling).
    2. Get them both. You're a Basenoter and you know you're going to end up purchasing them both eventually.

I spray behind my ears because it's a pulse point and in Sweden we hug when we meet friends or say goodbye to them, so they can smell me.
And I spray my clothes on my clavicles, so I can easily smell my fragrance for the whole day.
I don't spray arm wrists, since I am a white-collar worker and most of the time my hands are rubbing against computer desk, so it will evaporate fragrance faster

If you spray your shirt collar, I imagine it is going to stain pretty quickly. I already have this problem with my dress shirts without spraying them directly. I spray my left bicep, my chest, torso, and the back of my neck. Depending on the scent, I'll spray another to the chest.

The number of times I spray depends on the fragrance strength (1-5), and location is wherever I’ll be able to smell it. Depends a lot on what clothing I’m wearing.

Nope. IMO Jeremy’s (?) method is a good way to quickly induce olfactory fatigue. Perhaps spinning on one’s heels helps reset the nose...

True. And clapping your hands, if done hard enough, will break apart the scent particles that have developed in your nose.

No, it makes no sense to me. If you spray up high like that you get olfactory fatigue, in my experience.

I used to have this problem, I would even spray my chest, then put on my shirt a few minutes later, and it would still often stain it. Wear an undershirt, and spray your chest under that, or spray the undershirt itself (I use this lightweight mesh undershirt). Once I started wearing them I have had very very few issues with stains from fragrance. Never directly spray your dress shirts IMO. I wouldn't spray any visible clothing unless I made sure to keep the sprayer REALLY far away so the juice doesnt concentrate in one spot on the clothing.

No undershirt policy in Danny Mitchell's life. Gotta leave some buttons undone and show some chest, bro! Gotta do it right. No undershirts!

Side note to anyone who may be reading this. I highly recommend the undershirts by Thompson Tee. For guys who sweat a lot, they completely eliminate underarm sweat marks. Completely! Also, Danny, I believe they make a super deep V neck for those of you who want to show off some chest. It's worth taking a look.

No undershirts! I don't think it's a good look to have an undershirt, especially a tank top style undershirt.

I think with the right fit, style, and color, you can make an undershirt invisible. In that case, I'm pro-undershirt. When one's undershirt can obviously be seen, I think that's not a good look.

    Agreed.

Seems like a lot of sprays near the head. But I suppose if you have nothing much going on above the neck anyway....

The undershirts I wear have a very deep V neck. if i dont have a tie at least the top 2 buttons are always open. I could probably open the 3rd one and the undershirt would be rarely/barely visible. If its just 2 buttons undone (pretty standard and safe) my hairy chest is exposed and no visible undershirt. buy a deep v one!

Probably the logic behind his suggestion is to give a simple, easy to understand application technique to beginners. Using this technique even most light scents will be detected by someone when they embrace you. On the other hand, if you match the scent to the correct occasion, most heavy scents won't leave a trail of carnage as you choke every one out with Ultra Male.

I wouldn't recommend this five spray routine to most people, especially not fragheads. Jeremy himself probably wouldn't recommend it to fragheads. For one thing, as Diamondflame said, spraying so close to your nose induces olfactory fatigue. For another, you need to adjust the number of sprays to the fragrance, the formulation or batch, the occasion, how strong you want it to be, the temperature, the humidity, and whether there will be competing smells in your envirnment (especially in a big city). It's not uncommon for fragrances to smell or perform noticeably differently on clothes vs. skin as well.

    Tips to spray better:

    1. Be hesitant to spray close to your nose. You can spray close to your nose, especially on the back of your neck and ears, but as mentioned earlier your nose is more prone to fatigue that way. The main upside to spraying there is that people can more easily smell your fragrance when they hug you, but you probably won't find this compensation worth it. If someone has to get inches away from your fragrance to smell it, you can usually reapply the fragrance from a decant, or apply more sprays to begin with instead of spraying your neck area.

    2. Whenever you get a new fragrance, ask someone how far away they can smell your fragrance and how strong it is. Ask this to someone (or multiple people) who don't mind being asked repeatedly. Ask this question one hour into the life of the fragrance, and also a few hours later. Adjust your number of sprays accordingly, and ask again until you get the right application. Even then, it is good to sometimes check how your fragrance is doing if the temperature, humidity, or environment are very different than when you first tested that fragrance. After a while, you'll get to know not only how each fragrance performs, but how to adjust your sprays from there.

    3. Try different fragrances on skin, on clothes, and on both. When you're just starting, go with a mix, for example, when I try out my bottle of Mancera Lemon Line for the first time, I might spray four times on the arms, and twice on clothes. I'm likely wrong on this, but I get the impression that clothes tend to make a scent last longer, and skin tends to make a scent project more. Good luck!

    Keep is simple, I say.

1 to each wrist at 1-3 to the core (no particular location) depending on the scent.

Makes a nice scent bubble and keeps it away from the face.

At a certain point you reach the 'overthinking' phase. There are several methods of application, but I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just play around with it and you'll find where you like to spray. My locations have evolved over the years as I have discovered locations that work better than others.

I’m now much more comfortable using this approach with some of my bigger volume stash. I don’t sashay though...just moonwalk.

I've recently started doing the back of the neck spray, but otherwise I keep it below the collarbones. Usually a few torso sprays and one on the back of each arm.

    This, ultimately.

I spray under clothes, wrists, back of hands, nape of neck, sometimes 'accidentally' overspray onto my hair, sometimes inner forearms, usually a spray or 9 on the chest. Depends largely on my mood, the fragrance in question and the setting in which I'll wear it.
