Ok I’m officially out. Pulled the trigger on a few fragrances which have been sitting in my cart for months and even backed a Kickstarter fragrance project. Guess I finally succumbed to the ‘lure of forbidden fruits’. Bortnikoff’s latest collection coming in at the end of August didn’t help matters and hammered in the last nail. Bye bye No-Buy August.

Just one more week to go! Now that the tremors and other withdrawal symptoms have subsided, I'm feeling pretty good about this and may just continue on into September. Didn't hurt that my checking account looks fatter, too.

I haven’t purchased anything since May and I’m holding off on any additional purchases until my trip to Montreal at the end of September. I’m going back to my former quarterly buying schedule (on solstices and equinoxes). This method eliminates impulse buying and forces selectivity. Plus, it’s cosmic!

I always admired that method when you practiced it, and kept thinking I would employ it myself. Maybe I should start with the autumn equinox in September.

Welp, I won my lowball auction bid, which I did not expect, so I'm out. But I'm still in in spirit! I truly am slowing down and have enjoyed taking a break.

In my defense, it was vintage Chanel No. 5 EDC.

So far, this month, I’ve only bought the Hendley sample pack. I didn’t buy anything in July. This is the longest I’ve gone without buying a bottle for a long time. I’ve been trying to cut my purchases for a few years. I feel like I might finally have a grip on it.

LOL. What can I say? Perfumes (and books) are my personal kryptonite! I don’t think I want to go through that again. There was this sense of impending danger; that an August full abstention had I persisted would inevitably lead to a complete September meltdown. Not sure if anyone understands this. It’s like going on a zero carb diet...

Except for a few samples, I'm good. Nothing I've sampled lately, except Killer Rose, has me in need of anymore full bottles. Even then, I'd only get a travel-sized bottle - which I probably won't get, as I need to give attention to my collection as it is.

    Good for you!

With the money I've saved, not buying perfume, I bought my husband a nice, new winter comforter, which he needed badly - more than I needed any new bottles.

You are a bad, bad thread starter, Brooks, and set a terrible example as our leader.

I think Brooks falls into the "Do as I say, not as I do" or "The road to (fragrance)hell is paved with good intentions" type of leader. I think we need more leaders like Brooks, makes life fun.

Doing fine. Father’s Day is September 1 in Australia and I have been slightly tempted to buy myself something for Father’s Day.
    1. No, never blind buy (I do, but do as I say, not as I do. I'm taking no responsibility for your fragrance gambling).
    2. Get them both. You're a Basenoter and you know you're going to end up purchasing them both eventually.
    3. Yes, it has been reformulated.
