Thread: Vintage Amouage

    Default Vintage Amouage

Hello, I was hoping someone might be able to tell me what version of Amouage Gold this might be.

I have read through this whole forum on Amouage Gold and the huge variety of types that have existed and changes to the formula. I am curious to know if this is the original formula, full strength version that was first created and that from what I can gather is not produced anymore.

From what I can gather the newer bottles are no quite as potent and not quite as powdery as the pre-reformulation bottles.

I am hoping to get a vintage original formula full strength version.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

From the photo this looks like a bottle from the 1990s if not earlier. The earliest Amouage Gold Man was formerly known as Gentlemen's Cologne. If you can get a bottle for a good price then go for it. I've smelled the original formulation from the 1980s and it's quite potent but unfortunately I don't have the right nose to appreciate it.

This is a very old bottle, but not quite original. This is the Gold Crystal version, which came after the original Gold. The Crystal versions were released in the '90s, where as the original release was in the '80s. Also, just in case you weren't aware, this is the women's version.

All that being said, this will be far more potent than anything from the modern era. If that's what you're looking for, this will get the job done.

Thanks to you both. I had no idea this was the womens version, not what I am looking for, that saved a few hundred dollars.
