    Default Autumn Selections 2019

We're into August, and when we hit August, my thoughts inevitably turn to fall. These thoughts have been accentuated in fragrance terms given that I'm in the midst of No-Buy August, so any plans for fragrance acquisitions are on hold until September. What fragrances are you looking forward to wearing and trying this autumn season?

Established favorites I'm looking to enjoy:
    Aramis Tuscany
    Guerlain Heritage EDT
    Odori Tabacco
    Tom Ford Noir Anthracite

Scents I'm planning to try for the first time:
Carolina Herrera Mystery Tobacco (if I can find a good source for a decant)
    L'Artisan Tea for Two
    Polo (Cosmair Vintage)
    Tiziana Terenzi Laudano Nero
    The Brooks Otterlake Swap Thread

    Autumn Favorites
Aramis Special Blend, Aramis Tuscany per Uomo, Guerlain Héritage EDT, L'Erbolario Méharées, Michael Kors Michael for Men, Odori Tabacco, Perfumes of the Desert Pinon, Rasasi Dhanal Oudh Nashwah, Tom Ford Noir Anthracite, West Third Brand Amérique

Hey Brooks. Nice thread idea. Let me know what you think of POLO Cosmair versus the new stuff you sampled.

I think when it starts to cool down outside, I enjoy my collection that much more. I'm definitely planning on using my Gucci Guilty Absolute quite a bit more. Same with my Michael 2001 and Michael Kors 2014.

I'll be sure to report my findings in the main Polo thread.

Oh, I've been wearing my Michael for Men throughout the summertime (during evenings, mostly; it's a bit much for heat-of-the-day wear). I wear too much stuff for it to be a true signature scent, but it's getting there.

Still pretty hot here, so not thinking seriously yet.

but I will be curious to try the new Baikal leather by de Nicolai, and in general to bring back leathers I have not worn in this weather.

Good idea about trying NY intense. Sort of alternative citrus chypre, with a warmer, semigourmand drydown (rather than a more austere oakmoss).

Looking forward to these most of all:

    - Rosa Resin by Madhat Scents (on cooler weekend days/while apple picking)
    - Patchouli Intenseby Nicolai (at work)
    - The upcoming (close to done) fragrance from January Scent Project, apparently it has notes of incense + marigold
    - Squid by Zoologist

I don't own Sycomore, and I haven't tried it, either, but I understand Encre Noire is a sort of sibling. I hardly ever wear Encre Noire (I admire it as a composition more than I actually enjoy wearing it), but the few times I will wear it this year will probably be on cool autumn nights.

What you really need is the Sycomore EDT - which is vintage only...no longer in production. I was very fortunate to snag half 100ML sold by a fellow Basenoter. It is absolutely worth hunting down. One of the best vetivers out there.

A vetiver, yes, but so much more.

Last week I watched a 200ml bottle of EDT go for $610 on eBay, which is more than twice what my identical bottle cost in 2016. I couldn't help thinking that if I had invested $1,500 in Sycomore EDT in 2016, (five 200ml bottles), I could have enough to swim in for the rest of my life and still made a handsome profit.

The same seller had a 200ml bottle of Cuir de Russie EDT, same year, and it went for $320, almost the same as it cost in 2016. Which says everything about the variations that occurred when they switched all the Exclusifs to EDP concentration.

I am mostly looking forward to wearing Endymion and Royal Oud when the weather cools off. Maybe it’s just me getting older, or perhaps it’s just a happy occasion that two of my favorite fragrances work so well in this season, but fall is really growing on me. I also have a couple of samples and small bottles coming in that I am looking forward to trying, most notably a small bottle of Mon Vetiver by Essential Parfums.

I guess autumn in dubai is probably just the summer easing off... the aromatics, chypres, fougeres and orientals take center stage, the ones that get pushed behind in summer for being too much.

Autumn by me generally means warm days and cool nights in the early half of the season, and cool days and cold nights in the latter half. I tend to wear fragrances that evoke or compliment the local scents of the season: burning wood and leaves, pine, mulling spices. It's the time of year where my favorite notes tend to shine. These are just a few of the fragrances in my Fall lineup:

    Tauer Vanilla Flash
    Azzaro Pour Homme Intense
    HdP 1725
    Chanel Egoiste
    Dior Fahrenheit Parfum
    CdG 2 Man
    Costume National Homme
    Aramis Tobacco Reserve
