Default So we have a cheaper way to produce orris butter?

I vaguely remember I read it somewhere, recently (or not so recent) there is a new way to produce orris butter which largely reduces the cost, and it may be why iris perfumes are everywhere.

    Can someone confirm it?

That may have been me. I seem to remember reading something about that around the time that CdG released Sugi because iris was popping up everywhere at the time.
No idea where I read that though. Iíll see if I can find it. Iím not sure whether it was Turin who mentioned it or someone else.

Edit - this wasnít the article but it mentions something along those lines http://perfumeshrine.blogspot.com/20...d-one.html?m=1
    1. No, never blind buy (I do, but do as I say, not as I do. I'm taking no responsibility for your fragrance gambling).
    2. Get them both. You're a Basenoter and you know you're going to end up purchasing them both eventually.
    3. Yes, it has been reformulated.
    4. Looking for a signature scent? You've come to the wrong place.

It may have been Octavian, but I think his blog is now defunct.

I highly doubt it is really orris butter we’re smelling in the slew of iris-based designer releases since Dior Homme. Real orris butter is prohibitively expensive- you can’t scale up production and hold on to your margins. I suspect we are being ‘brainwashed’ into accepting this ‘carroty note’ as ‘orris butter’. Best to find some real stuff to smell but be prepared to be disappointed with fragrances claiming to contain orris butter.

Dior Homme which launched the iris for men copy cats uses a synthetic iris note from all the info I’ve heard
