Default Baccarat Rouge 540 EDP or Extrait - Do you have both and why?

I just recently purchased Baccarat Rouge 540 EDP and a couple of weeks later bought the Extrait.

There is a slight difference in the scents in that the Extrait seems like it's a little more smoother, mellowed down and tamer compared the the EDP.

From your experience in owning both, what do you enjoy from each fragrance and what differentiates the two from each other?

I enjoyed the EDP so much that the Extrait really captured my attention... a very cool bottle as well.

    Thoughts and feedback?

    Thanks!

I have tried and enjoy both. I think i still slightly prefer the EDP, but wouldnt hesitate to purchase both (and plan to). I agree that the extrait is smoother and tamer, yet a bit richer as well. The almond in it really is nice. Great buys!

Actually I have all three - The EDP and the Extrait under the Maison Francis Kurkdjian House and the first original release under the Baccarat House in Baccarat crystal which was created for Baccarat by Francis Kurkdjian. I find all different to some degree, but all very nice.

I've tried them both, and have the EDP, which I love and have tried the extrait. The extrait is a bit smoother and richer. But the EDP is just fine for me. But, money being no object I would buy both, I like it that much.

Thank you all for your feedback. I am enjoying both versions.
It gets hot in Atlanta during the summer but Baccarat performs well without being overpowering or cloying (a little goes a long way).

I started to collect a few of MFK's fragrances and am excited about what I have so far.

Baccarat Rouge 540 EDP and Extrait
    Grand Soir
    Aqua Universalis

Any other suggestions... not a big rose fan?

    Thanks,
    Michael

If you like Aqua Universalis then perhaps Aqua Universalis Extrait.

I own both the EdP and extrait and prefer the extrait slightly more. I’m familiar with Atlanta’s weather and think the EdP would cut through the summer humidity better. Others to try if haven’t are shown below,

    1. Absolue pour le Matin - fresh laundry
    2. APOM pour Homme - elegant orange blossom
    3. Lumiere Noir pour Homme (I was not a rose fan until I tried it)
    4. Absolue pour le Soir - cumin, honey, benzoin

Tried both but prefer the Extrait, the EDP was slightly more feminine leaning to me. Try Thomas Kosmala's Aprčs l'Amour, a total BR540 killer, much better than BR540. Also Red Ishq by Anfas.

From MFK try Satin Mood Extrait, Silk Mood Extrait, Oud Extrait, Absolue Pour le Soir, Petit Matin, Aqua Universalis Forte, Gentle Fluidity Gold.

I was contemplating buying Absolue pour le Soir but I own Grand Soir and only have several months out of the year to enjoy.

Is Absolue pour le Soir in the same realm of Grand Soir in regards to being a heavy projection beast?

What fragrance is it similar to in note composition? Some of the reviews indicate an animalic/ skanky note.

Grand Soir is somewhat close to but more gentle than Costume National Soul minus the oud element.

Thank you for your feedback and suggestions.

I don't find either of them to be beasts. APLS has a sweaty, sensual feel to it, you need to try it. MFK will send you a sample if you ask nicely.

I just got both in samples from MFK this week and so far have only worn the EDP. I guess its not really a love right now, still trying to wrap my head around it. Did it take a few wears for you to appreciate it? Maybe I didn't apply enough from the sample. As for suggestions, I highly recommend Oud Satin Mood, great scent!!

My experience with the EDP version of Baccarat Rouge 540 is that every time I wore it the scent became more detectable to my senses.
That sweet somewhat dirty cotton candy vibe is quite stimulating. It takes several wearings to really enjoy the journey of the scent.
Of course, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

Thank you for your suggestion of Oud satin Mood.
I will check it out next week.
    Have a great weekend!

    Best,
    Michael
