Default What you wore clubbing back in the day

My clubbing years were in the late disco period from 1977 to 1984. I wore:

    Rive Gauche
    Charlie
    Jontue
Halston--this one particularly brings lots of memories
    Scoundrel
    Sophia
    Chanel No. 5

Was not much into clubbing even back then, but when so, usually cheapies like Adidas Classic/Classic Blue and Dynamic/Dynamic Pulse, while the slightly pricier and also better quality choices included Salvador Dali pour Homme and Chevignon Brand

I tried clubbing... so if one isn't into drinking, sweaty gyrating bodies on the dance floor, one night stands, shouting over loud music, alcohol breath everywhere... doesn't work, now does it?
I thought the whole idea was to smell like yourself (all my scientific training) and except for a benign, fairly odourless deodorant, why use perfumes when it could easily turn-off or turn-on people in close proximity. I observed there was no middle ground.

I did have to pick-up two of my friends often from clubs in New York (late 90s) when drunk around usually 3/4am.
Need less to say, I just didn't enjoy it.
    Rather developed a, Spanish-Inquisitor-come-to-haul-the-miscreants, reputation.
Our mutual friends said I often looked like a puritan with my pursed mouth (obviously in disapproval), blank eyes and black/white clothing.

    So, poor me... no clubbing!

Deodorant - I hated fragrances at the time.

To be honest, my clubbing was generally hot, sweaty and rave-like, so most fragrances would have been sweated off within a couple of hours. Maybe I could've worked something like l'Eay d'Issey Pour Homme because it would need to be something fresh yet tenacious.
    1. No, never blind buy (I do, but do as I say, not as I do. I'm taking no responsibility for your fragrance gambling).
    2. Get them both. You're a Basenoter and you know you're going to end up purchasing them both eventually.
    3. Yes, it has been reformulated.
    4. Looking for a signature scent? You've come to the wrong place.

    1980's...Poison EDP.

I often found it too intense for every day, but it was fantastic in the smokiest of clubs/dive bars (full of cigarette smoke back then). Poison surrounded you with a personal cloud of dark fruits, flowers, and incense.

I never did much true clubbing, but Escada Magnetism was my go-to scent for parties and social nights out in general.

Never went clubbing much, but if I had, I would have been smelling a lot of Jovan Musk Oil for Men....in the early 70's. It became VERY popular. How things have changed.

I've gone out to more dance clubs and parties this year, especially the last couple of months, than ever in my life.

Don't have a particular fragrance, usually wear what I like; however, it's been Acqua di Gio Profumo quite a few times, mostly because of the weather.

Went clubbing to try and block out some serious losses, so I honestly cannot recall what I wore - probably CK Obsession for Women, Davidoff Cool Water for Women, or Chopard Casmir.

"clubbing"' for me was like 6-8 years ago, so probably A&F Fierce, D&G The One, and Versace PH...those got a lot of attention from me back then. Maybe even Curve now and then.

Congrats for the exquisite selection, closer to a formal dining/ballroom/official reception (s) rather than just clubbing (of course, in a positive way) fragrance selection-at least personally, would not have any reluctance combining either of these with a "dressing up", even slightly overdressed sort of outfit

    Merci Monsieur,
Must admit that my clubbing was focused upon seduction formal in Private Club atmosphere. The YSL was largely the scent de rigueur for the wonderful carnal bump and grind of the sleazy disco orgies.

Late '70s into '80s -- the peak of disco. My vats of original Halston could hardly compete with the fog of Opium and Poison that permeated every club.

If I'd been smarter I would have worn Bal a Versailles. That woulda showed 'em who was boss.

The first time I did a little white pill that makes you very happy, and goes by one letter (wink wink), I was wearing Om by The Gap. I never quite forgot the olfactory connection and thereafter every time I smelled that scent, I got goosebumps.

I miss Om - it was one of The Gap's best scents!

Started clubbing around 89-90 and never really stopped - just do it more selectively these days and sober too.

Would have worn Obsession for Men, Fahrenheit, Egoiste, Hugo by Hugo Boss, Lacoste Booster and Xeryus Rouge in the 90s, adding Burberry Touch for Men, CK One, Le Male, Laura Biagiotti Roma Uomo and whatever else in the 00s. I have some very, very strong scent memories with some of these and they'll always have a place in my collection.

These days it could be pretty much anything from my wardrobe - Carven L'Eau Intense on the weekend just gone but the Dior masculine parfums are often a good shout.
