Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

I had an excellent chat with my most beloved sister about how she can't get her rusty toilet seat bolts off and I couldn't come and help her because she was too ashamed of the state of her house.

    BWAH HA HA HA HA!

Good morning all--I'm headed to bed soon in Pur Desir de Lys solid perfume/elbow balm by Yves Rocher. It's quite nice for bed.

Shycat, it seems like boring chats don't exist in your world!

Last night I threw out my cat out of my bedroom and closed the door, because she started biting my arm for her own amusement while I was trying to sleep. No way I'm allowing her this! After a few hours I woke up to drink some water and let her in again, this time she purred peacefully by my side.

It's slightly rainy today, and I'm in For Her EDT.

    Hello all,

I’m wearing Tom Ford White Patchouli. I think it’s the crispest fragrance in my wardrobe. It was in a group I was going to give away but I changed my mind about all of them at the last minute. Now I know which ones are on probation! For now, fragrance will be excluded from my expanding minimalism. To me, it’s OK to own excessive possessions that are part of a curated and organized collection. It’s the random clutter that must go.

    Have a good day.

I'll be joining Trilby Lark in more painting this week. Next up, dining room. Looking forward to joining the less productive among us in winter. I'm doing mine now because my sinuses demand that I paint only when windows can be open, though I've also been doing some decluttering.

Wearing Paris 1948 by 4160 Tuesday this morning and motivating myself with my good friend caffeine. Have a good day, all!

PerfumedLady, your dining room will look fresh and lovely for the holiday season! What color are you painting? I’m debating between white, cream, or light sage for my stairwell. The stairs are carpeted in moss green. I’m taking the oak handrails in to be refinished. Hey, oak + moss = chypre!

Green Day #3 looks like it's going to be one of the few remaining 90F+ days as we stare down this damnable hurricane trundling toward us, and I think that calls for vintage Eau Sauvage.

I can only dream of the feeling of superiority that would come from having a sibling whose state of squalor exceeded my own.

Lol!! A chypre stairwell, now how many perfumistas can say they have that? I have a special fondness for green carpeting, one of my favorite of all flooring treatments. Just looks so rich. I do love the idea of sage for your stairwell, and it just happens I did the master BR in shades of cream and white this past spring. Absolutely loving it; feels fresh yet historical and would certainly be earthy enough for a chypre stairwell, I'd think. All white would be an aldehydic chypre. All of your thoughts sound beautiful, whatever you decide!

The dining room will be mainly white, with an icy, pale blue in a little alcove, and experimentally, on the ceiling(!). An aldehydic room! This room has Berber carpeting (carpet is not my first choice for a dining room but it was brand new when we moved in, still in fine shape) that has flecks of that same pale blue, and overall reads as sort of blue-grey. The DR walls are currently all white (but the white I'm using is creamier, less stark) and it's cheerful, but just needs something. We shall see if I have figured out the right something.

Someone needs to start a paint company with colors named for perfumes, categories, perfumers, etc. I think they'd find at least a couple of easy marks!
