Default Tried a couple colognes and could use help

    Hi,

I tried a few colognes at a mall shop and ended up liking the Elysees Wood (favorite) and Mercedes Benz Club Black the most (at least when smelling it on the paper strips). I didn't get a chance to try it out on myself. Should I try to buy them? I'm new to this and they seem expensive for someone just starting out. I don't know if there are other scents out there I might like better.

    Elysees Wood:
    • Top notes are Violet, Blackcurrant, Almond, Melon, Anise, and Peach.
    • Middle notes are Peony, Mimosa, Hibiscus, Lilac, Lily-of-the-Valley, Almond blossom, and Rose.
    • Base notes are Vanilla, Sandalwood, Almond tree, Benzoin, and Cedar.

    Mercedes Benz Club Black:
    • Top notes are Bergamot.
    • Middle notes are Jasmine and Incense.
    • Base notes are Ambrox, Benzoin, Golden woods, and Vanilla.

    Thanks!

I quite liked the Mercedes Benz Club Black -- nice vanilla in the base. It was about 50 for 100ml, which is relatively cheap

It's good to be picky, and give something a couple full wearings. You want to enjoy the whole ride, including the base.

If you have fun sampling, you'll inevitably find stuff you like just as much or more.

Like Bavard said, it's good to wear them on your skin for a full day before purchasing. Then you can experience the entire progession. I'd say pull the trigger if you still love it after that.

    Welcome to Basenotes, abt!

If you really like them, go back and wear them on your skin. If you are still satisfied with the smell and performance, you should buy them! While you're there, it can't hurt to try out a whole bunch of different scents. Take your time exploring.

Would go for Club Black out of these two-especially if the ambit of notes is both diverse and quite generous for a comparatively affordable price

If you like the way they smell and the price is agreeable to you - sure.

You probably wanna get some samples or at least try 'em on and spend a little time with 'em before you pull the trigger. There's a hell of a lot of frags out there and it's likely there's some you might enjoy as much or more, so definitely shop around.

I haven't tried any of those, so can't comment, but would suggest you to try them out on your skin before purchasing.

I don't know the two you have mentioned but I would suggest to sample on your skin before pulling the trigger. I have found that some frags just do not work well on my skin type.
As was suggested to me just a few weeks ago when I joined here, sample, sample, sample! Enjoy.

Sample more! You may find others you enjoy more, and they may be even cheaper.
