Default Daily cologne for university student?

Hey guys, I am a 19 year old university student and have been using Zara's Vibrant Leather as a signature scent to wear to lectures, out and about etc. I love the scent but find performance is poor - people cant smell anything on me after about an hour. I want to expand my collection and have some different things to reach for each day - I don't want to spend too much (£30 - 50 is my sort of budget per bottle, I think that's reasonable?) but do want scents that project well, as I find nothing really projects on me - that's the reason I returned Sauvage as people just couldn't smell it on me. Any recommendations for my age range and semi-professional setting would be great!!

Well most fragrances don't project very much beyond 1-2 hours is my experience. But it depends on what you mean by people being able to tell or not. And if you want very safe and fresh scents that last and project for long, that's a tricky one.

If these suggestions are suitable for "professional environment" or not I don't know, I don't really care too much about those conventions, I think that's over-complicating things:

I haven't tried the re-release of Salvador Dali PH (the one with the lip cap) but that one probably projects a lot, the vintage stuff sure is strong. Probably well within your budget.

If the main criteria is performance or bang for the buck I can also suggest Rien by Etat Libre d'orange. It probably costs like 100-150 dollars a bottle, but it is so strong that you can use much much less than with any other fragrance and still get it to be very noticeable. Smells nice to me, but it's a weird one. 3 sprays is the LD50 dose, 5 and you are dead for sure. Really hard to dose this one actually, because at first you think 2-3 sprays is alright, but the scent cloud builds more and more if you don't keep moving is my experience, so I could probably get by with half a spray from it (like spray it in the air and walk into it).

Those are the strongest fragrances I can think of right now that I actually like and arent way beyond your budget. You'd have to smell both to know what they are about, really hard to describe them. Kind of dark fragrance tho I guess.

Perfumer's Workshop Samba Skin Man - A casual woody tobacco scent with cacao and honey (Tobacco Vanille/Pure Havane vibes, but not as syrupy or sickly sweet as either) that projects well and lasts a good while. Should do you well.

It's a nice versatile scent that's distinctive is what I can say.

Burberry London, at least in its current form, has so-so performance. Mostly stays close to the skin.

Something in the same vein that performs a bit better is L'Occitane Eau des Baux, but it's strictly a cold weather scent.

    Pure Havane or Pure Malt;

+1 on Rien for something more striking.

second on this, I love EdB and its fits all your criteria. I wouldnt say its "strictly" a cold weather scent, I'm wearing it right now on a warmer early fall day and have gotten compliments on it. I think its pretty versatile, I just wouldnt wear it in the middle of summer

I think I’d go Duc de Vervins L’Extreme and/or Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche.

Both smell great and both perform well.

+1 for Pure Malt, but I like the 2 listed above a bit more because they can both be worn in warm or cooler weather. Pure Malt is a cooler weather fragrance given its heft.
I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love.

If you are looking to project harder than Sauvage you are considering fragrances on the extreme end of the spectrum. Vibrant Leather is a Aventus clone. Club de Nuit Intense man is a popular choice. Others have stated they don't get longevity from it. On me it if f nuclear. All day. Strong enough to cause nose blindness easily. Sauvage does the same thing.
    1 Million
    Eros
    Invictus (any)
Black Aoud (really any montale oud/rose) maybe a bit expensive, but deafening

All of these should affordably scream at a decibel to obliterate those around you in your lecture hall. But Sauvage will do that as well, so what do I know.
It’s tragic to think that heroic man’s great destiny is to become economic man, that men will be reduced to craven creatures who crawl across the globe competing for money, who spend their nights dreaming up new ways to swindle each other.

I could feel Sauvage piercing my occipital lobes from one spray on my wrist.
