Feel free to interpret "darkest" as you please.

There are so many that could fit the label for me. One that comes to mind is Black Tar

Black by CdG. Does what it says on the bottle, although in terms of mood I find it rather uplifting.
    1. No, never blind buy (I do, but do as I say, not as I do. I'm taking no responsibility for your fragrance gambling).
    2. Get them both. You're a Basenoter and you know you're going to end up purchasing them both eventually.
    3. Yes, it has been reformulated.
    4. Looking for a signature scent? You've come to the wrong place.

Taking "dark" to assume this is based on scent only (and not going by scent's name, packaging or marketing, etc)

Also adding Salvador Dali pour Homme, even if not the darkest among all male/unisex fragrances altogether, perhaps one of the darkest if not the darkest powerhouse fougeres, most of the Memo Paris ouds and most oud scents by Al Aneeq (and or other Middle Eastern houses of similar output, price category, style etc.) among the darkest ouds

Amouage - Opus VII. Like Memoir's brooding antisocial cousin.

Tom Ford - Noir Anthracite. Black as pitch. How this got released on the mainstream Signature line I don't know.

Well..."dark" can mean gothic, in which case an incense like Avignon (CdG) might fill the bill, or "dark" might refer to the underworld, where Anubis reigns. Or it might mean heavy seduction, a la Bandit...or thick and syrupy, like so many vintage perfumes (Zibeline, for example). As in all things fragrantic, much depends on subjective references.

Going by packaging and presentation alone: The whole of the Odin New York line. Runner up is Serge Lutens' travel spray editions.

In terms of a dark feel, patchouli has this impression on me. So from my collection, I'd say Boss Collection Cashmere Patchouli and Angel le Gout de Parfum.

Akro Dark qualifies. Fruity, bitter, intense dark chocolate. I found it pretty severe, albeit in a compelling way.

And I feel obligated to mention Lalique Encre Noire. A biomechanical scent, a bit like standing at night on the shore of a black lake on some alien world.

Spicy, smoky graphite. Love that stuff.

I think Tom Ford just wanted to see if he could get a robust masculine to connect with the mainstream. Gucci tried a similar thing with Gucci Guilty Absolute around the same time.

Private Label by Jovoy is also very dark.

Great choice, but it's not dark!

    Very true!

The vintage juice is “darker” but I don’t know that I’d call Antaeus in any rendition one of the “darkest.”

Dark Rebel and/or Dark Rebel Rider. Not just because they have the word dark in their title but because they are a very dirty leather/slight rubbery scent. I occasionally think 'gothic' when I smell it.

The "darkest" smell I can think of is Azzaro Silver Black, or Onyx. It starts off with a top of green gummy worms but goes dark very quickly. It is somehow fresh, but brooding at the same time, nothing sweet. It makes me think of a handsome middle aged gentleman that smokes lots of cigarettes in his house so even fresh out of the closet his clothes have a lingering cig smoke odor. He gets out of shower, soap clean and puts on his shirt for a long night of drinking, and mingling with questionable women... this is also taking place in about 1990.. it is quite an intoxicating and interesting scent.

    Seconding this.

Also, check out some of the scents from Sixteen92. Lots of witchcraft/noir/macabre themes. They have a sampler set called "Dark," actually, which I purchased.

But I was thinking in the bottle and in what is to me the time to wear it.
I use it into the night.
I Cant think of Antaeus and the sun.
Anyhow, this thread is about how any person interpret "dark".
