Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

Cyllene by La Curie (from a sample) dead pleasant, very lovely jasmine with leather and some other spicy elements, it's sweet at the top and has worn into a skin scent. Maybe not perfect for the hot summer but it's good.

Last night when I left work it was 90F degrees and 90% humidity. I honestly felt like I could see the air. Today is predicted to be a repeat, and I just don't feel like I can ask any perfume to stand up to that.

Thankfully, I recently received this old-timer. I knew it was large when I ordered it, but I was still kind of shocked when I opened the package.

Coming up for a breath of fresh, non-paint-scented air!

Q., how exciting your weekend was! Congrats on your smashing success!

I'm ready to start mailing boxes of rain to JR! It's been such a wet summer we're growing algae on the house siding. Which honks me off to no end as I just had it power washed. And more rain on the way. I'd be delighted to send you about half of our summer rainfall. At least!

On the bright side, I have baby peach trees that have really gotten a great start due to all the rain. Unfortunately, it's been almost impossible to grow actual food crops. Not a great year for fresh veggies. But one of these days, we'll have peaches for sure!

Sampling Diptyque's L'Eau du Trent-Quatre today and my socks are knocked off! What a fab herbal citrus this is. I did the Luckyscent Labor Day sale; buy three samples and get two free. This is one of the freebies they chose to send and what a wonderful one it is. Great work, LS!

Happy Birthday to our much-missed celebrants!

Yes, I like it a lot. I bought a smaller bottle earlier this year for nostalgia's sake and was surprised how nice it was. I don't know if Jean Nate was ever common in Europe, but anyone here over 40 almost certainly remembers it. The old stuff (made by Charles of the Ritz) is better than the newer (made by Revlon).

It's actually a citrusy fougere, very unisex. Bergamot + lemon verbena, peppery carnation, and a light sandalwood. Very refreshing to splash on, especially if you keep it in the fridge. Lasts longer than most bath splashes, too -- a couple of hours at least.

PL, I would have thought your climate was too cold in the winter for peach trees!

We're just within the hardiness zone for peach trees, C.b. You're right, it's iffy-they're hardy in zones 5-8; we're zone 5. But we're also among those who get the harshest winters in zone 5 due to nearness to the Great Lakes. My hopes are high though; the seedlings came from dad's house, only about an hour south of us. And they survived last year's especially cold winter! One of them is already as tall as I am (but that really isn't saying much). As much as I've complained about moisture, it does seem to have given them an advantage. Fingers crossed!!

    Milestone congrats to N.Cal.

    Hello all,

I’m wearing Dior Oud Ispahan again today,

PerfumedLady, I’m painting too! I discovered that the stairwell ceiling will require a second coat of white. So there’s the original white, white primer, and new white paint on there now but I see that I missed a few spots. Oh well, back at it.

    Have a good day.
