    Lightbulb What everyday frangrance?

    Hello everyone!

I know winter is right around the corner but my fresh scents have run out and I'm looking for an everyday fresh scent. While I do have some more versatile pieces in my collection, most of them are heavier, night time perfumes. My current collection is: Aventus, Viking, Green Irish Tweed, Original Santal, Oud Wood, Tuscan Leather, Tobacco Vanille, Noir Extreme.

Some of the fresh scents I like are Terre D'Hermes ETF and Neroli Portofino. However, I'm looking for the strongest fresh scent out there as I have been quite disappointed with Terre D'Hermes ETF's longevity and sillage.

Looking forward to hear your opinions.

    Thanks!

Nice collection you've got so far! Have you tried Terre d'Hermes Pure Perfume? I own that one and love it. It's very strong and lasts a long time. You also said that you like Neroli Portofino. How is the longevity on that for you? I think it would be a great addition to your collection. A couple others that I like are Coney Island by Bond No 9 and Moonlight in Heaven by Kilian.

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately I haven't tried any of those on my skin. Is TDH Parfum similar to ETF? Neroli Smells so good but don't know if it would last long on my skin and don't wanna shell out £170 only to have it disappear an hour or two later

I couldn’t resist. And also, it has exceptional performance. A less expensive neroli fragrance that I get good longevity with is Penhaligons Castile. FWIW

Based on your collection, you may appreciate these that lean or are fresh:
    Alexander J Le Royal
    Amouage Beach Hut
Roja Dove Elysium (test first for sure because longevity seems to differ among people)
    MFK Aqua Universales Forte
    Creed Green Irish Tweed
    Xerjoff Uden

I get solid performance from everything mentioned about.

If I missed a budget restriction in thread, please say so. There are less expensive alternatives from Middle Eastern and even vintages that are fresh and present solid performance.

Careful with the Parfum version. It made it too concentrated for me that it almost destroyed even regular TDH for me.

Can't quite comment 100% on longevity or sillage, but I do think it lasts and projects more than most fragrances, it's a fresh vetiver citrusy scent.

If you want something more substantial I'd consider Monsieur. by Frederic Malle or heavier vetiver fragrances (if you like that sort of thing, I personally am not a huge fan of classic vetivers I find them usually quite annoying, unlike elie saab's).

    Hello Leo!

Notes commonly identified as "fresh"--i.e. citruses--tend to be built of unstable molecules, so they fade and break apart quickly. If you want a truly beautiful, natural-smelling freshie that puts a lot of emphasis on citruses, you won't find great longevity.

Perfumers can amp up the performance of a "freshie" by relying on aromachemicals and other ingredients. In many cases, the "synthetic" feel will come through. Something like Ferrari Bright Neroli will last a good bit longer than some other neroli-based scents (including Neroli Portofino), but it smells a bit syrupy and heavy, rather than light and natural.

So you have to be aware of that tradeoff. You can't have both a natural, delicate-smelling composition built around citrus notes and have heavy longevity. To get longevity, you either have to go for something that transitions from fresh citrus to heavier woody-green notes, or you have to go with something that emphasizes aromachemical effects.

That’s a great explanation, thanks for clarifying ! Just to get an idea which of the two does GIT fall under and could you recommend some from both categories?
