Default Creed Royal Oud or Amouage Interlude Man?

I'm looking for a woody, spicy cool weather fragrance.

Tried Royal Oud and love it. Got a sample of Interlude Man on the way.

Any similarities? Which one do you guys prefer?

Prefer Royal Oud. Wore it to work today since it was 48 degrees this morning. Royal Spicy Wood would be a more fitting name for it.

Royal Oud. Its classier and much more versatile. On the few occasions that I have worn Interlude I have really enjoyed it. It's a fun fragrance to wear but for me It's more of a twice a year fragrance. I can wear Royal Oud anytime.

    Royal Oud for me.

I like Interlude and have occasionally worn it from samples when the urge arose, but don't think I would ever feel the need to buy a bottle.
Royal Oud though is full bottle worthy. I call it my smouldering cedar scent. Its versatile but shines in cooler weather, and with the right amount of sprays cocoons you in a perfect aura of scent. I wouldn't be without it.

Definitely Royal Oud IMO. much more versatile, and just a better fragrance all around.

what do you find to be the "right" amount of sprays? this tends to be one I overspray because it is rather subdued compared to the Tauers and Manceras of my wardrobe...

I voted for Royal Oud because it is more wearable in light application. Both still smell burnt wood though and are not very pleasant in high doses.

Interlude, but RO rubbed me the wrong way. Did not get on with it.

Having said that, I think RO fits your brief better. Interlude, to me, Ian predominantly an amber scent, bolstered with some synthetic oud oil and incense. Like Ambre Sultan it has some slightly astringent oregano in the opening.
    1. No, never blind buy (I do, but do as I say, not as I do. I'm taking no responsibility for your fragrance gambling).
    2. Get them both. You're a Basenoter and you know you're going to end up purchasing them both eventually.
    3. Yes, it has been reformulated.
    4. Looking for a signature scent? You've come to the wrong place.

Of the two Royal Oud would be my choice as well. Much easier to wear than Interlude but this may depend on the setting.

For me a go-to autumn/winter scent is something along the lines of Hermes Bel Ami or Knize Ten.

    Neither?

But, if pressed, Interlude Man. Of the two, it's the more interesting scent. Just go light on the application or nobody else will be able to breathe.

I enjoy Interlude. I wear it often when I know I will be outdoors for a long period of time in winter. It cuts through the cold and wind, having a warming effect. I definitely appreciate Royal Oud's quality, but it just doesn't excite me personally.

Creed Royal Oud for me quite easily, but that shouldn't affect your decision because you don't have my nose

Royal Oud is more versatile, even suitable for the summer but the new batches are trash.

    I enjoy Royal (no) Oud.

Interlude just doesn’t wear well on my skin, but I can understand it’s appeal. Personally, I think they’re very different scents.
