    Default Dating Malle POAL

Tough to do because the traditional ways to date Malle bottles being the change from matte to glossy caps happened around the same time this was released. According to a trusted source this has definitely been reformulated. In my research I am seeing 2 different concentrations- 80% and 83%. Anyone with an older bottle confirm which concentration it is? Might that be a way to tell between an original formula and a newer? There also appears to be some different info on the back label of each different concentration. Let’s see some pics of older bottles versus newer bottles for those of you have either or both. Also maybe clues in batch codes?

The reformulation happened at the time of the cap change from matte to glossy. Any bottles with the matte cap are the original formula. I don’t think the overall perfume concentration changed, rather there was a modest shift in the reformulation to more earthy patchouli in the open early-on, while dialing back the initial jammy rose a bit (probably due to IFRA regs). The perfume quickly moves back to familiar territory from there-on out. Potency is *not* a problem, to my nose at least (nor is projection or longevity).

In essence, the overall reformulation was skillfully done, but the initial open I guess had to be meddled with a bit.
    Current Top Ten:
    1) Portrait of a Lady original formula (EdP Frédéric Malle)
    2) Giorgio for Men vintage (Giorgio Beverly Hills) - tie
    2) Giorgio V.I.P. for Men (Giorgio Beverly Hills) - tie
    4) Dia Man vintage edt (Amouage)
    5)
Anat Fritz Original Formula and Classical (Anat Fritz)
    6) Captain vintage (Molyneux)
    7) Javanese Patchouli (Zegna) - tie
    7) Monsieur de Givenchy vintage (Givenchy) - tie
    7) Coeur de Vetiver Sacré (L'Artisan) - tie
    7) Polo vintage (Ralph Lauren) - tie

Yup that's what I read as well.

I should prob add that the reformulated PoaL is actually much easier to wear. Better balance of notes and it's much smoother. A monster for projection as well.

Strifeknot was able to take a pic of the original and reformulated side by side, big thank you to him. Also as stated above the original did in fact have the matte cap. Vintage to the left (ending in cinnamyl alcohol), reform to the right (ending in BHT)below.
