    Enlighten me!
I see a lot of these on popular auction sites - are you a buyer and why!?

I would think they're useful to counterfeiters, though I'm sure some people just want to own them for a collection.

Nope, but curious to hear what people do with them (aside from counterfeiting, as mentioned above).

No, I collect only for the perfume.

I collect the classic extrait bottles with glass stoppers, so yes I do buy those ones if they're in good condition.

Negative; it's a curious behavior but I suppose anyone who does has their reasons.

I bought an empty vintage Lanvin Pretexte extrait box to go with a box-less bottle I bought for my wife. But, other than for such a rare instance, nah. It's bad enough I buy so many full bottles. The last thing I need is to start buying empties.

Yes this is what I thought, lol but didn't want to start off on a negative! I guess we all do this , like REALLY scrutinise peoples photos for any hint of nefaria - I've seen a creed seller with shed loads of bottles in the background of images, semi obscured, but I zoom in and they're all empty... gets ya a thinking!

Agree to finish the set if you have bottle no box.
Was over zealous this weekend with recycling and chucked out a mint condition Lanvin Avant Garde box..

There may be a few who do it for collection (is that the same as keeping the bottle after finishing it?) but I am eerie about others selling them on eBay - it definitely looks dodgy.

Personally, an empty bottle serves no purpose and just takes up space. Some bottles may look good and have a good presentation, but not worth keeping. With whisky bottles though, the ceramic ones, I keep those for display after they're empty. I have several figurine decanter bottles that I keep as collectibles. I would probably do that with the Avon bottles if I still had any of them from my childhood.

Never, only interested in the juice.

A friend was a bottle collector for some time and she was only interested in the bottle, to the point of making her mother wear fragrances she herself did not like if the bottle was of interest.

Oh yeah , I've kept an empty Encre Noir, it's a tidy little thing and serves as a decent bookend due to its solid weight! Wouldn't seek one out to purchases though.

No, I never have and I do not ever plan on it. I can see how one may do that from a collector's standpoint. Bottles can often be very pretty or otherwise aesthetically pleasing. Personally, I'd spend a little more money to have a bottle with some juice in it.

If I ever purchase a Killian, their boxes are quite nice and can easily be repurposed to be used for other things.

I would hope so, given what you're paying for those ostentatious boxes.

My bottle of STH resides in its coffret, but when I run out (if i decide not to purchase a refill) I will likely use the box for small trinkets.

I don't buy them but I need a cap for a bottle of Bright Neroli. If an empty bottle with the cap came up on ebay, I'd buy it for the cap.

If I have the space, yes. I actually started out as a (vintage) perfume bottle enthusiast but ended up falling in love with the contents instead, lol. Just as well given the present trend of bottling everything in drab, uniform ( cheaper) bottles.

Ref: By Kilian, they are now starting to sell the fragrance without the fancy box and if you want to buy an extra.

I sniffed Rolling In Love at the weekend and the SA told me, so many do not want the fancy box they will just in future sell the fragrance in a normal box and if you want the jewellery box to pay extra to get it on separately it will not come packed with the fragrance. So no doubt when the current stock coming with the fancy box is gone that is it. Now Rolling In Love is still £200 even without the extra box.

Would only consider this in two cases (or a combination of both)- either impressive collectible, aesthetic and/or sentimental value or if needed more or less inevitably for various refill bottles, containers, other refill/backup possibilities

In case anyone is considering the By Kilian fancy lockable coffrets, they are ‘high maintenance’ pieces; the chrome finishes tend to tarnish over time and the key gets rusty.

It's hard to imagine the Kilian boxes and keys oxidizing like that unless they're kept in a humid environment and/or there's a lot of moisture in the air.
