Default What Is Each Designer's Magnum Opus?

I'm wondering what common sentiment is. From what I've gathered, these are what seem to be widely recognized as the best male fragrance(s) by each designer:

    Armani - ADG Profumo
    CH - Man Prive
Chanel - Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme (possibly BDC?)
    Dior - Homme (possibly Sauvage?)
Dolce & Gabbana - The One
    JPG - Ultra Male
Paco Rabanne - Honestly I have no idea for this. I'm guessing 1 Million or Invictus Aqua.
    Prada - L'Homme
    Tom Ford - Tobacco Vanille
Versace - Man Eau Fraiche (possibly Eros?)
Viktor & Rolf - Spicebomb Extreme
YSL - La Nuit De L'Homme

Are there any that I missed or that you would disagree with? Obviously this is subjective, I haven't tried some of these frags, so I want to know which ones to look out for.

Are we talking about current releases?

Because Chanel's great masculines are stuff like Pour Monsieur and Antaeus, and Dior's great contribution is Eau Sauvage, and you could keep going on down the list.

I guess so. Something in the past decade or two.

    Overall...

Armani - Acqua di Gio Pour Homme, the regular EdT.
    Davidoff - Cool Water
Dior - Eau Sauvage, the regular EdT followed by Fahrenheit
    Aramis - regular Aramis!
Hermes - Terre d'Hermes , can't really confirm or deny something BIGGER than TdH that I've noticed.
    Paco Rabanne - 1 Million
Chanel - hard one, maybe Pour Monsieur?
    Cartier - Declaration?

    Designer?

    Aramis -- 900
    Azzarro _Pour Homme
Chanel - Egoiste/ Sycomore (too many to name?)
    Dior -- Fahrenheit
    Guerlain- Shalimar
    Hermes -- Bel Ami
    Lauder -- Knowing
    Pascal Morabito -- Or Black
    Thierry Mugler -- A*men
Tom Ford -- Tuscan Leather (I know, I know, I can't help loving it)
    Yohji Yamamoto- Yohji Homme
    YSL- Rive Gauche

Non-designer there are lots of houses that have one that stands head and shoulders above their others, as well.

I didn't consider Guerlain as a designer since they never made clothing or accessories, but I'd pick Habit Rouge (1965) as their house-defining magnum opus for men.

    I'll disagree in blue

Armani - ADG Profumo AdG Original
    CH - Man Prive
Chanel - Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme (possibly BDC?) No. 5
Dior - Homme (possibly Sauvage?) Fahrenheit
Dolce & Gabbana - The One
JPG - Ultra Male Le Male
    Paco Rabanne - no PH
    Prada - L'Homme
Tom Ford - Tobacco Vanille Tuscan Leather
Versace - Man Eau Fraiche (possibly Eros?) Versace Pour Homme
Viktor & Rolf - Spicebomb Extreme Spicebomb
YSL - La Nuit De L'Homme Kouros

edit: I had started this reply before the stipulations were put on. After reading them I decided to let my initial reactions stand, as putting time limit stipulations would no longer equate a true "magnum opus" in my book.
It’s tragic to think that heroic man’s great destiny is to become economic man, that men will be reduced to craven creatures who crawl across the globe competing for money, who spend their nights dreaming up new ways to swindle each other.

Some fun lists. This is male fragrance discussion. I think we're talking current versions.

    Chanel - Egoiste

    Guerlain - Vetiver

    Versace - L'Homme

    Dior - Fahrenheit

    Hermes - Equipage

    Caron - Yatagan

    Aramis - Tuscany

    I'm enjoying everyone's lists.

    Prada Infusion d’Homme
    Ralph Lauren Polo
    Thierry Mugler A*Men
    Tom Ford Moss Breches
    Valentino Uomo Intense

you stole my list before I wrote it !
    Only modifications I'd make are
    Hermes Bel Ami,
    Chanel Pour Monsieur or Egoiste
Givenchy Gentleman or Monsieur de Givenchy
Tom Ford, not sure. I like Grey Vetiver but it's kind of underwhelming as an all time great.
Not sure I can give the title of Magnum Opus to anything from Prada, or Mugler.

If you're going with *influence*, you have to choose either Tobacco Vanille or Tuscan Leather.

But in terms of all-around quality as well as an ability to stand-in for the "Tom Ford Style," Tom Ford for Men Extreme (2007) is as good a candidate as any.
