Default Dolce & Gabbana The One Alternative

    Hey everyone,

Hope you've all had a good week so far

I'm looking for some advice on an alternative to The One, I love the fragrance but unfortunately, don't love the poor performance and lacklustre projection. Does anyone know of an alternative that has the same vibe but actually performs well? I'm happy to try a few different suggestions so feel free to offer up any and all you know.

    Thanks,
    My Most Complimented:

    1). Aventus - Creed
    2). Sauvage - Dior
3). Allure Homme Sport - Chanel
    4). L'Homme - Prada
5). Acqua Di Gio Profumo - Giorgio Armani

Have you tried The One EdP? I love the The One but the EdT I have always had performance issues with it and I purchased it when it was first released. The EdP performs quite well on my skin so you may have the same experience.

I've heard good things about Ambré Baldessarini (2007), which is in the same lane. Ed Hardy Villain is what folks most often mention as a The One alternative.

Of the scents that often get compared to The One, I like Vera Wang for Men the best and think it does everything The One does but does it better. Unfortunately, the performance isn't any better, but it's so cheap that you don't have to feel bad about burning through your bottle.

I would also recommend the One EDP version. Last a bit longer and is a better scent overall, IMO.

If you have the money to spend, D&G's Velvet Exotic Leather may be worth looking into.

This is still something that confuses me. I have a 50ML bottle of The One EDT that I purchased from Winners (Canadian TJMax) many years ago. I get solid projection and a good 10+ hours of longevity. This thing is a beast.....

It was reformulated and has terrible performance nowadays

Sales rep gave me the EDP in error and turned out to be a very happy mistake. EDP def lasts longer and is richer. I later tried the EDT and while it smells nice, the longevity issues are not exaggerated.

Also spray your clothes, I’ve worn the EDT and when applied to clothing it lasts well and is very apparent to others double up on sprays per spot big sprayer but sprays small amount!

Have personally never had any performance issues with The One EDP

Vera Wang smells similar but did not last long on my skin at all. Like, 2 hours and it was GONE. completely. I guess you could just decant some and spray more throughout the day, as you can get a bottle for like 25 bucks, but you might as well just do the same thing with The One at that point, which I think is a nicer scent at the end of the day

Well is Wang can be compared to the One, then also look into Tom Ford for Men? Although the longevity issue is still a major problem with that one. Maybe try Tom Ford for Men Extreme but I haven't tried that one. Not sure if it stays true to the original TF for Men or is it's own thing.

After having said all that, it would seem easier and cost efficient to just stick with The One EDP, IMO.

It gets compared to both, but I think Vera Wang is better (and much cheaper) than either.

Extreme is its own thing. Not really comparable to these others.

TF is way too much to be considered an alternative, though I do enjoy the scent. Never made a connection to The One, though.

I don't think the TF for Men is much like The One.

Vera Wang has shades of a bunch of different scents. There's a bit of Michael for Men in there too.

My The One EdT bottle is whittling away now so I've replaced it with Cartier's L'Envol EdP. They're not similar in terms of scent, but very similar in terms of feel; the Cartier replaces the booze with honey.

Also, the Vera Wang comparison is very apt, but I find that the Vera Wang is even more subtle, which is remedied by applying more. Hugo Boss Orange is fairly similar to The One, too, and both can be had for a song.

I would've never thought to compare the two, but I'm a big fan of L'Envol EDP and will always encourage folks to give it a try.

Yeah, they're not that similar, but both are elegant, 'warm', slightly spicy scents suited for the colder weather period.

I've seen the Hugo Boss Orange at discounters and almost got it. It seems like it could be really good or a complete joke.

Honestly? It's not bad. It's like a sharper, fruitier version of The One in my opinion.

I tried it a few days back. It didn't do anything for me. It barely registered with two sprays. TJ Maxx had about three bottles of this and one of them was out of the box, so I tried it.
