Good morning all !. Yet another day of wall to wall blue skies. This is getting ridiculous - never mind rain, I can barely even remember what clouds look like !. Big day on the sporting calendar with my beloved All Blacks kicking off their World Cup campaign against South Africa today. Will also be tuning in hoping that the mighty Leeds can put one over on Derby in the lunchtime kick-off. Keeping fingers crossed but expecting a double whammy

teardrop, enjoy your well earned fortnight off

Today the heat spell will be in full swing. I'll be going with Diorella thanks to the recent discussion of it in the vintage forum.

teardrop, hopefully you can enlighten us with your experiences of Greece in the days leading to your trip. Favorite foods, locations, activities, scenery

Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. Like N.Cal, we have yet another heat wave teed up to arrive here for the last week of September. I'm concerned that all this late heat will decrease the amount of autumn leaf color; I believe the color intensity is determined by cooler night temperatures and daytime cloudiness.

I need to cram in some of the heavier-hitting greens in the next couple of days, if they're going to get their turn in the month's rotation.

Actually Cook.bot, I just read on the news that leaf changes are caused by the number of hours of daylight, not air temperature, so it shouldn’t be affected. Here in Montréal we are losing 3:18 minutes of daylight per day on the way to the winter solstice.

Meantime we are having fabulous sunny days without a cloud in the sky and temps in the mid to high 20’s. Loving it. I am wearing Cuir Beluga today.

    Hello all,

I’m wearing Chanel Coco for my weekly drive up to LA to visit my father-in-law. There are some magnificent homes in the neighborhood around the nursing facility and the Koreatown business district is lively. I enjoy the whole experience and FIL is always glad for the visit.

    Have a good day.

    Wait, what?

    Clearly more research is required.

Update: Apparently it's both -- day length AND temperature. From Brittanica.com:
This event is usually triggered by the declining day length and falling temperatures of autumn. Leaf abscission (the technical term for the dropping of leaves) begins with the degradation of chlorophyll. As the green fades, yellow and orange pigments known as carotenoids are revealed in the leaves of many species. In other plants, pigments called anthocyanins accumulate in the leaves at this time, giving them shades of red and purple. Some of the most beautiful fall foliage features both types of pigments, often with one color giving way to the next as the season progresses. Eventually all the leaves are dropped, and the plant goes dormant for the long winter months.

No scent or post yesters ... I hate missing sotd. It feels like I've been absent from school, and I'm behind in my studies.

    Greetings, all you lovely people.
HoP, I appreciate how the pulse quickens at the sight of an eagle. It's happened here only a couple times.
Teardrop, I'm happy to hear about the days and days of vacay. Travel to Greece sounds like a well-earned treat.
Looks like Jon and Trilby have specifically fun plans for this weekend, too.
PL, hope all your devices remain 100%. I'm phasing out/in and simplifying email addies/passwords/services/applications related to business, personal correspondence, our "museum" home, and auto-billing. What a tangle.
Cook.bot -- love the "what?" gif.
