Default Most frivolous or unjustified purchase you ever made?

Mine was buying a bottle of Antaeus because I think the bottle looks badass. I don’t like the way it smells but wanted it for the bottle anyway lol

I bought a partial once because I wanted the cap for my full tester backups of said scent, which was discontinued and impossible to find new with a cap in the size I wanted.

Back when Egoiste came out, I got the big bottle of it. I had it for a few days, and I hated that it was a splash bottle. So then I went back and bought the smaller bottle, which was a spray. Still have both of them.

My second most frivolous is two: buying a full price bottle of Hermès eau de narcisse bleu at Saks because I HAD to have that bottle right then and there, even tho I saw it was selling on fragrancenet for 1/3 price if I ordered online and got it within 1 week. Did same on trip to nyc when I had to have full price retail Guerlain eau de cologne imperiale but could have got for much less online by fragrancenet, but no restraint

It was a now or never moment so I went for it. Not the best vetiver scent by any means.

A while ago DHP was hard to find. I purchased it multiple times from fragrancenet and strawberrynet, only to have those purchases fall through after much aggravation. I purchased a decant of it, and before I really got a chance to get to know it much I saw it available again I pounced, not as much because I wanted it anymore or anything. My main motivation was that I was not going to allow my story to end in that kind of frustration. This allowed me to change the ending. $110 to feel better. Luckily I enjoy the fragrance anyway, so I'm not sad to own it.

It was june 2013., walked into Douglas and bought the last bottle of V&R Antidote. Don't get me wrong, it is a good fragrance, but somehow from the years later perspective now, I wouldn't do it today.

Out of curiosity, I bought Xyrena 66 and Dark Ride. I've actually worn and sprayed the space in my old garage when out there.
I sprayed Dark Ride when the basement was damp...weird.

Back-up bottle of Etro Heliotrope. I like its oddness, but I don't like it quite that much.
Compounded more recently by purchase of LT Piver Heliotrope - even if it was cheap, it was totally unnecessary.

Blind bought Guerlain Songe d'un Bois d'Ete after reading that it smells like sex in the bottle , even if it wasn't on the wish list and it cost a lot more than I'm willing to usually give for a blind buy.

10 bottles of Aramis Tuscany. They was very very cheap. They didn't have Havana - my favorite from this brand, and one of my favorite perfume overall.
I don't have any back-up bottle for Havana.
It's somehow similar to Azzaro Pour Homme. I like Azzaro a lot more, but I own only 300 ml (200 + 100 ml).

Had I bought a bottle, maybe I'd nominate it into the contest. However, I never did, and now one of my greatest regrets. The simple strangest scent I've ever known.

I liked this one the first time I tried it. Tried it again and got my brother's opinion on it. "It smells like the gloves that doctors wear," he said. That ruined it for me.

Unjustified-actually cheapies and/or blind buys rather than lavishly expensive scents

Most frivolous or at the very least extravagant and/or costly purchases- entry level niche, mostly at the lower end of slightly over a hundred or at most few hundred EUR/GBP/USD mark and even then and there, luckily not overly frivolous because largely if not even entirely counterbalanced by quality, performance and/or value for money

I did this with Amber Absolute as it was a limited re-release back in 2015. As it turns out it now holds a small premium.

Q: Most frivolous or unjustified purchase you ever made?

Such a question has an inbuilt paradox in it.
The answer is, all of them because one can live without perfume
And the answer is, none of them, because "I" can't live without perfume.

    Songe d’un Bois d’Ete

i have a decant that I probably won’t finish for a few years yet, but I just had to get a full bottle.
    1. No, never blind buy (I do, but do as I say, not as I do. I'm taking no responsibility for your fragrance gambling).
    2. Get them both. You're a Basenoter and you know you're going to end up purchasing them both eventually.
    3. Yes, it has been reformulated.
