Ombre Leaher as it is smoother and smells like way higher quality. It also is more versatile.
The AdP is sharp, a bit dark and not a good blend imo.
My Top '11' of main current rotation in no particular order:

    - Fragrances of Ireland: Patrick
    - Polo Blue Gold Blend edp
    - Antaeus (vtg)
    - Azzaro: Pour Homme (vtg)
    - TF: Ombré Leather
    - Al Haramain: Excellent
    - SA: Shaghaf Oud Abyad
    - SA: Al Basel
    - D&G: Pour Homme (vtg)
    - Mancera: Red Tobacco
    - Mancera: Aoud Vanille

I'd go with Ombré Leather. The AdP has never clicked for me.

I assume by Ombre Leather 18 you are referring to the 2018 release of Ombre Leather versus Ombre Leather 16 (2016 release).

Compared to Acqua di Parma Colonia Leather, it boils down to skin chemistry.

The AdP to my nose is not as well blended - which means certain notes 'pop' more than others and as a result is more interesting on my skin as it goes from phase to phase.

The OL also works on my skin but is quite a background scent overall, never fully presenting itself except during the first 10 to 15 minutes of wearing.

Try samples of both, give them full wearings.

I own Colonia Leather and was recently given a sample of the current Ombré Leather release.

When I wore the OL my initial thoughts were “Gosh, this is lovely and although rich, it’s nice and smooth and more wearable than my CL.” But then it just went on and on; and on and on; and on and on, in the same fashion for hours and hours. Now, normally a fragrance being linear doesn’t bother me. But OL; my, oh my it was just exhausting. Just too much. I therefore do prefer CL: it develops from a noticeable opening, through a mid phase, and into a really pleasant dry down.

Not crazy about either personally, but of the two - for me as it smells better- Colonia Leather.

That’s a fair point re OL. It’s relentless which can be exhausting

The linearity of Tom Ford scents can make them monotonous unless you're in love with the particular accord. Most fail to captivate me.

I've really only sampled OL 18. The bulk of my experience has been with OL 16, which I find does offer enough intrigue to satisfy me over the course of its lifespan.

One less-discussed but gorgeous option is Floris Leather Oud (not to be confused with the Dior).

The AdP is a crappier copy of Ombre Leathers predessor, and i say that politely.

    Colonia Leather.

Don't care for Ombre Leather. I was sniffing stuff recently at a store and one of them was sprayed with the Ombre Leather and another of something else. Went to sniff again and was smelling OL when I thought it was something else, and it was just an unpleasant/blah smell. Maybe also due to expecting to smell the other frag I had sprayed. But then it kind of clicked for me that I don't really like the smell of OL.

Edit: With that said, I've had Tuscan Leather, Colonia Leather, C for Men and sold all of them. That style of 'leather' (not sure why they think that smells like leather?) isn't really for me. If I had to re-acquire any of them.. Tuscan Leather probably, based on smell.

My vote for colonia leather. It's drier, it has some citrus, perhaps it's a bit sharper and more brutalistic, but that's the interest there.

There are many types of leather.
I have tried many ‘leathers’ of this type and the only one of this kind that I enjoy wearing time and time again is Ombre Leather 2018.
It hits the spot, is more balanced and rounded, and doesn't get cloying or feel harsh like Tuscan Leather and others of this type. It also works well as a base layer if you are into layering fragrances. Colonia Leather didn’t work for me.

I would also recommend sampling some woody chypre type leathers like Bel Ami by Hermes which has an excellent spiced leather accord, or Antaeus by Chanel which has a smooth castoreum leather note with beeswax.

I know what you mean. I think they are meant to be reminiscent of tanneries, maybe.

I always maintain, an incredibly ‘realistic’ leather can be found in Habit Rouge edt. It’s remarkable.

The leather in Tuscan/Ombré Leather strikes me as very realistic and instantly recognizable.

Leather has many different real-life aromas, but TL/OL definitely nails one of them.

How many Ombre Leathers are there? There's the 16 in the Private Line and the regular stuff that is from 18? Is that it?
Never tried Colonia but love the Ombre Leather. It's just a tad bit sweeter than I would like but I still love it.

Yes, there's just OL16 and OL18. Minimal difference between the two, to the point where people debate whether or not they're different at all. In the air, they'll register as being the same scent.

OL16 is slightly deeper, maybe a touch smoother. The main difference between them in the notes list is that OL16 lists violet leaf. OL18 doesn't, and is marginally simpler, drier, and more masculine as a result, with a stronger jasmine note to compensate for the absence of violet leaf. There was speculation that OL16 was meant as a feminine flanker to TL, but it took off with men so it was reissued as a masculine.

Would I replace my bottle of OL16 with OL18? Maybe? I've spent enough time with the former that the subtle changes do make a difference to me. But I wouldn't recommend anyone pay a premium for OL16, either. They're very close.

I don't like Tuscan Leather (too bombastic, too unbalanced) and I don't like the fresh opening Colonia Leather adds to the mix. To me, the appeal of Ombré Leather lies in its darkness.

I prefer Colonia Leather, to my nose there is more going on which keeps it interesting. Ombre Leather gets boring fast...

I liked Ombre Leather but bought Parfums de Marly Godolphin instead, because I liked that one just more.
Godolphin is one of the most underrated PdM scents imho. Don't mind the flashy bottle, the juice is really good and well built!

I vastly prefer Colonia Leather, wonderful smoky dry-down. Ombre Leather is a mediocre fragrance.
