Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

    Good morning!

    ROBERTO, you smell nice.

And I smell clean, iris-y powdery and a bit green today with Frescaessenza by L'Erbolario.
I layered some Pink Grapefruit by Body Shop on top for some additional juicy freshness, but I cannot smell it anymore.

The autumn has kicked in here. It's chilly both outside and inside. It gets below zero in the nights and early mornings. Everyone is wearing their thickest sweaters and already waiting for heating season to start. I was waiting for Indian summer but I'm afraid we're not getting it this year.

Guerlain Sous Le Vent for the Indian Summer weather today. Still at least another month to go before any chance of rain to occur.

    Afternoon all!

Still plenty of rain here. l haven't got around to a SOTD yet, partly because l was still enjoying the drydown of Champagne de Bois this morning, & also because l'm preoccupied with last minute preparations for our trip to Greece. We're leaving at a very early hour tomorrow morning, so the plan is to take a long nap shortly, then get up & stay up until it's time to go.

l'll report on my SOTJ (Scent of the Journey) later!

Safe travels and have a FABULOUS time, Teardrop!!! Looking forward to hearing about your SOTJ.

Giving a test wear to Alghabra Perfume’s Ottoman Treasure. I like it a lot, think it’s very well constructed (at least so far), and find it evocative of something(s) in the L’Artisan line...

    Wonderful Wednesday to everyone!

Keep cozy ClockworkAlice! I'm ready for cold weather but I think not as cold as you have there. The thought of thick sweaters makes me want patchouli but I'll ease into my day with Vol de Nuit.

We don't get winter anymore, generally speaking, sometimes a few cold days in Jan/Feb. But the nights are cooler lately, and the rains have ended, we are bouncing from (in F) about 72 at night to about 92 in the hottest part of the day - without the rain to cool things in the afternoon, though.

Hermes Poivre Samarcande for something different today.

Feel better yet, Hazel? Has the numbing worn off, Foxbins?

Although we're aboard two different ships, we Americans and you Brits, I believe we're sharing a common sense of seasickness. "Bartender! A round of liquid Dramamine for all my friends here."

Having an unusually leisurely day. Heading out as a 2-person/1-canine threesome to run errands later. I've applied a light spray of Shalimar over last night's faded New Haarlem and, at skin level, I'm getting some of that desirable rubber smell I associate with Bulgari Black -- the effect of Shalimar's vanilla over NH'S burnt toast, I suppose.

Thank you, Shycat! I'm armored in a jumper dress, woolen leggings and fingerless gloves today - ultimate coziness. Just no patchouli. But patchouli is a good idea for the evening scent, I'll think about it.

Robin-in-FL, do you miss winter or are you happy with cold-less winter? Our winters are also milder nowadays than they were decades ago - and I prefer them milder. I sometimes think I'd prefer living somewhere without winter at all, but then again there is beauty in having all four seasons, too.

teardrop, have a great trip and wonderful time in Greece! The weather should be wonderful here. I've been in Greece only once so far and absolutely fell in love with everything here - the landscapes, the food, the people, the weather, the historical monuments, the olive forests, the sea. Hoping to come back again and again and again some day. Yes, I'm both a bit jealous and happy for you

    Hello all,

I’m wearing Diptyque Eau Lente. I’m organizing for my upcoming trip to Montreal and I depart on Sunday. Apparently that’s the place to be if you crave rain because lots of rain is forecasted.

    Have a good day.
Note to self: Choose being kind over being right, and you’ll be right every time.

I just noticed this morning that the dogwood trees, always the first harbingers of autumn in the Carolinas, are starting to show a little rusty-gold color. Reasonable temperatures can't be far behind.

With hope in my heart I'll splash on some Eau du Sud, one my favorite garrigue-style scents.

Personally, if I had the money, I'd live in summer always, don't like cold at all, and have never lived somewhere with snow or ice. I don't think it bodes well for the world, the oceans need it cooler, the sea ice is melting...it's not a good sign so I pray we can reverse it but

Yes I like the hot weather OK and can cool off easily by being still, it has never bothered me, and I like hot weather activities, beach and pool, cold drinks on the porch. Cold weather, I can't seem to get warm no matter what. So personal preference only? Yes I prefer a rainy season and a dry season, not summer-fall-winter-spring.

Thanks ComDiva, ClockworkAlice, tdem & Jon!

ClockworkAlice, you mentioned many of the things that l love most about Greece. N.CAL asked for me to post a few of my favourite things about the country, but it's hard to know where to begin, when you love a place so deeply. l could write pages & pages about it if l had the time!

The temps over there are forecast to stay at 27-29 centigrade over the coming week, which is just about perfect.

For my SOTJ l've decided on Greek Keys by Sarah Baker Perfumes. lt was the obvious choice really, not least because it's so fresh, bracing & very long-lasting, so it should keep me going until we get there with no need for top-ups.
