Clint was my favorite of all dozen scents in the Vintage Avon sample pass. I remember it reminded me of the old Bernard Chant green leathers, Azuree, Aramis, Cabochard et al. Really nice masculine scent, axe optional.

Just catching up... WHY DO I HAVE THIS SUDDEN INTEREST IN DIORAMA? And also HOmade (from a southern girl?) cornbread?

SOTN is Azuree (from a Bample - a Bot sample) cause I feel like being a bad girl too! Wait.

OK, but if I have to choose between Clint and Eau d'Hermès?

    All my cornbread is hoemaed.

That's comparing apples to oranges because Eau d'Hermès is animalic and spicy. Clint is more aromatic and mossy.

This has nothing to do with the similarity of the fragrances, and everything to do with their respective effects on Cook.bot.

Eau d'Hermès might as well be Eau d'Squirmès with the way it makes her extol in the forums, so I imagine it's the clear winner (over everything).

Ha! Poor MasonJarJar. This page of this thread is turning into a David Lynch movie. Let's all get a grip.

Clint by Avon is a very nice masculine fragrance, and so is Leather by Avon.
Cornbread is a delicious foodstuff, independent of its maker's morals.

Davidoff Classic Men. Inspired by the "best male oakmoss fragrance" topic I remembered I had a mini of this laying in my cabinet. It was one of the first vintage mini's I bought and at the time I couldn't really place it yet. I'm just an hour in, but now I think this stuff is fantastic. Right now I'm thinking this could be a brother to vintage Diorella, but I would have to do a test if the resemblance is really there.Davidoff-Classic-Men-Eau-de-Toilette-Splash-125-ml_1.jpg

Interesting comparison. It is hard to compete with older perfumes, without cheating and using similar ingredients.

Davidoff is really good. It ticks the boxes that would have me adding it to my collection if I didn't have a counterbalancing concern about having too much perfume - an early house release, better than what came after, a massive dose of old-school gravitas, similar fragrances on the market that aren't quite as good. Over time, by far the main thing I smell in Diorella is melon, which makes it only smell like other things with that note, to me.

Very interesting. I think that's the first time I've heard that said about Davidoff. And since Diorella is the offspring of Eau Sauvage, would you say the Davidoff is comparable to ES as well?

Not to me. This one is a powerhouse. Leathery, tobaccoy 80s masculinity.
Vermeil PH clones this one very well.
Back when Vermeil was cheap I would recommend buying that instead. Now the prices are converging so FBW.

I think the three of us should get together and form a vintage perfume tontine. First one to die passes her vintage perfumes on to the other two. Last woman standing gets alllll the perfumes.

That oughta be a powerful incentive to clean up our act and live right.

First a disclaimer; my guess is that I haven't smelled nearly as much fragrances (let alone vintage ones) as most of you, so the associations I make are probably way broader and less detailed than most of you.
That being said, the first few hours of Davidoff Classic to me smells mostly like skanky/overripe fruit on a bed of moss (I have a hard time smelling leather/tocacco tbh) that gets smokey in the dry down. It's quite a beast and easily lasted the whole office day.

I think it's the overripe fruit that made me associate it with Diorella. Tonight I did a quick comparison and that element is something I definitely smell in the opening of both fragrances.

Comparison with ES I find difficult to say. For current formulation I would say no, but I do smell similarities to my vintage mini (again, this is a broad association) of ES.
