I hadn't even seen it. Looks great, but that ain't the whole deal.

How does the "light" compare with the, um, heavy?

That's still on my shopping list. How do you place it in your vast pantheon?
    I know it ain't.

The Light version is light in performance. But it smells great with its citrus freshness and creamy base. Have yet to try its 'big brother'.

Still no major USA sellers, though a few decant sellers on eBay -- again of EDP only. Weird how there's no distribution on the EDT concentree.
Yeah only EdP, which has very mixed reviews, though the EdT Originale 1949 has had better reception.
Weird regarding distribution. Both are available here in DK, and I think UK and Germany too but that don't help y'all over there, I know.

The Lanvin Monsieur Lavande was delightful today—more lavender-forward, and thus, to me, preferable to Caron pour un Homme. But, it's no longevity monster. So, tonight, I thought I'd muck with some frags I bought my wife as my twin SOTE:

    10-21-19 SOTE.jpg

The Cabochard is on my right arm, the Chanel on my left wrist. Both are perfectly wearable as masculines, though the Cabochard is definitely more "butch," to the point where I could easily see getting my own bottle. (It even bears a slight resemblance to yesterday's Eau d'Hermès, and I think I prefer Cabochard to its younger brother, Aramis.) I was actually inspired to try it because my wife wore it yesterday, but it was overpowered by cooking smells so I didn't get to experience it then. Interestingly, she doesn't care for Aramis, though she didn't mind it too much when I last wore it.

The vintage No. 5 is brighter and more floral, but the slight animalic aspect makes it work for me in a way I don't think current No. 5 would. It's not something I feel I need in my wardrobe, save perhaps for the layering options it would provide.

Haven't tried the EDC of No 5 yet but the parfum concentration is definitely growing on me. The more times I wear it the less I'm able to detect the aldehyde. I can pick many of the other notes - orientals, animalistics, other florals. For me its kind of a good thing.

The EdC is around in abundance for very little, so grab some. Mrs. S. is back on No. 5 due to this bottle; the reformulation must have taken it the wrong way for her. So, now to get her some vintage parfum!

Going easy on fragrances for now. At least spraying/applying a lot of it inside the house. I did bring to work with me, and just applied, from a small decant of Santal by Fragonard. This is a really really good neat sandalwood. The newer version isn’t bad but isn’t the same. The vintage is a deeper and a truer representation of sandalwood oil. Creamy and blooms just right off the skin. Also, the vintage has all day and night performance (though not tenacious), whereas what’s produced now goes for most of the day. Either version is good. But vintage is appreciably better to me.
