    Default Your vintage SOTD 2019

Fabergé Brut EdT this evening from what I think is a 'transition-bottle', in that it says Unilever and Parfums Fabergé Paris on the back. On the front, the otherwise white lettering of 'FABERGÉ' is gone and instead the Fabergé-name is at the bottom front in raised glass lettering.

I don't know the age of it. Maybe mid-'00s?
The colour is beautiful and it smells terrific with a very nice anise'y top and creamy mossy base!

I can't tell you if this is the purest, truest, best vetiver out there, as I still have the benchmarks in the queue. I can say it's a lovely, highly wearable frag, and as un-harsh a vetiver as you could want. The Monsieur Lanvin line continues to impress.

All my newer D'Orsay bottles are from 1995, so there were no restrictions on oakmoss and sandalwood wasn't quite extinct yet, so quality for this is on par with The Crown Perfumery re-issues from the period. Unfortunately you'd have to go with 40's thru 60's stock to get older than this, as the original D'Orsay company stopped making selling their older scents in the 70's and ceased to be altogether in 1983.

I've smelled deep vintage Intoxication, Divine, Chevalier d'Orsay, and Etiquette Bleue, but not this one. Still, as long as you buy a bottle with pinstripes on it and the "ô" missing in Arome, you've got 1995-2001 stock. After 2002 the boxes changed to having silver borders and flat colors, plus the "ô" was added back, and you're dealing with treemoss/oakmoss split mix and potentially higher amounts of polysantal.

Of course if you're not hung up on any of this nonsense, buy whatever good deal comes your way. This is comparable to a Sumare/Ho Hang crossover in my mind. Close sillage, but satisfyingly dapper (as f**k) WWII-era psuedo-fougère

Very useful, thanks. As you know, I'm a Crown connoisseur—or at least I pass for one—so I figured some of the d'Orsay frags might be up my alley: Chevalier and Etiquette Bleu amongst them, and perhaps the Eau de Cologne and (esp.) Trophée. Arôme 3 is also on my "to try" list, and it's one of the easier ones to get, though I think mostly in the final formulation.

This bottle is from the early 90’s. So which version would that be? I really like the dry down of this for sure.

Yes, this vintage Dior Homme is my favourite, although I love (but don't currently own) DHI.

The 90's ones are also fairly common, just gotta look for "arome" and not "aróme" like all the others. There's also the Arôme 3 Tradition (1998) flanker, Tilieul, and Le Dandy. Milord is also another one to try but it was never reissued.

Tilleul doesn't sound like anything either I or my S.O. would like. Arôme 3 Tradition might work; how do you feel it compares to Arôme 3 proper? (Yes, yes, I get it about the "ô.")

Le Dandy, I've just snagged as part of a cheap vintage three-EDT sampler along with Divine and Intoxication. Milord is a tad pricey for a blind buy right now, though if I perceive a desirable house style, I might grab the EdC.

I've never smelled it yet, these "triplets" of mine came after months of deliberation on samples (I tend to sit a long time on acquisition decisions since I'm at the point where room is an issue and variety is preferred).

That makes sense. Well, I'll let you know what I think of any d'Orsays that find their way under my nose.

    Very nice, indeed.
That's 2nd which is just as good imo. 1st had 'PUIG' on bottom, 2nd had the full name. Nice one

I've only the vintage Arome 3, so I can't help with a comparison between old and newer, but PM me if you would like a sample of the vintage one. I posted about it at the end of this thread here:
