Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

Good morning! Today it's still chilly here, but it's actually sunny and much warmer than in the past week. Could we be getting some Indian summer this year after all? Fingers crossed. There's nothing more beautiful than mild and sunny October when sun shines through all these red and yellow trees and your feet aren't wet. I'm not asking for too much, am I?
Yesterday and today I listened to Shycat and wore things with some patchouli - Salvador Dali (that's now renamed to Dali Classic on the box) for yesterday's evening and Méharées by L'Erbolario for today. You were right. I am a happy cozy lump now.

teardrop, I hope you've already arrived to Greece safely and comfortably!

Trilby Lark, wishing you a nice trip, too!

foxbins and Hazel5, I'm glad you're feeling better. Keep it up.
Ouch, foxbins, house guests with dietary restrictions AND 3 days early sound difficult. Wishing you strength and inner peace. In my experience people with severe dietary restrictions usually are quite self-conscious and come prepared with some of their own food or are ready to not being able to eat everything that's offered. I hope your guests are of the same kind.

The last two days Indian Summer has contributed to two uncomfortable days with temperatures in the mid-uppers 90s. I view it as a last series of hurrahs of painful and miserable weather conditions, also the perfect environment for wildfires.

Ouch. I see why you're not too keen on that. That's really unfortunate and I hope you'll be getting milder weather soon.

"Indian Summer" in my area usually means it warms up to mild and pleasant 14–19 C (57–65 F). 90s in autumn are never heard of here.

Good morning everyone and many thanks for all the birthday wishes you left in my absence.
We had the most enjoyable, relaxing holiday down in Cagnes sur Mer and I spent my birthday
on a private beach, lying on a sunlounger being waited on hand and foot (bliss.) I even had a
    massage!

I haven't been online until now because I wanted to have a break from all things internet related.
I ordered a set of samples from Bastide (in Aix en Provence) to be in my letter box , when we arrived at our
apartment. I really enjoyed wearing them during our fortnight there, especially Rose Olivier and Figue Amour.

Back in the rainy U.K. now after a late night arrival in Liverpool, where the car parking place where we had left our car
was without staff at 11.30 p.m. as we arrived and we had to stand in the pouring rain for half an hour, without an
umbrella until someone arrived to let us have our car back! Bit of reality check.

I am slowly getting over the journey home and wearing Lolita Lempicka.
A woman without perfume is like a flower without a scent.

Where I live, Indian Summer is any three or more days in a row of temps above 70, after a very hard frost, usually late October or early November. We don't seem to experience them as much in recent years. In the 70's and 80's Indian Summer was a yearly "event" one could always count on.

Good morning everyone Today I'm gonna meet my cousin for a coffee before she travels back to Oslo. And tomorrow I'm going to Oslo and staying at her place for a couple of days. We are both going to a Sisters of mercy concert. She is allergic to perfume, so I'm scentless so far. My plan later is to wear L'heure bleue. Have a great day all of you

Foxbins, that is mighty accommodating of you. Dietary restrictions I can handle. Three days early? No, unless it's one of my kids' friends (who sort of just end up being more kids and there is always room for more). The combination of picky and spontaneous do not match for me.

In Frapin 1270 for today. Went for a run this morning, too, it's cool outside in the mornings now, sort of 75ish (24 in C) and that is the best for a jog, warm enough that I CAN warm up but cool enough to not overheat.

Good morning all! I'm back to feeling like myself. 100%
    HofP I'm glad you're feeling better...at least a little.
foxbins these houseguests sound very difficult. Early arrival! No no no that wouldn't work for me. Not sure I could deal with the dietary restrictions either. I'm having houseguests for 3 days starting tomorrow and even though they are easy and laid back and will eat anything it's still stressful!
It remains summer here with highs in the 86-94 range projected for the next week. At least it's cooling down more at night. I'm soooo ready for Fall! In the meantime I'll wear summery stuff like Miller Harris's Fleurs de Sel. From a sample.

This describes Indiana "Indian Summer" as well. And no, we haven't had one in ages but I also remember it being a yearly occurrence as a child. And rarely, even a bit later than November. In particular, one Christmas when it was 65(!); we had doors and windows open at Grandma's and the neighbor's dog came wandering in the back door looking for the feast. That year definitely stands out in my memory; we were all laughing hysterically! Any warmth we're having now is simply early fall; these first weeks after the equinox always are warmer than mid to late fall.

And glad to see you're beginning to feel better, HOP! Be gone, cough!

Happy to see you were thoroughly spoiled on your bday, kewart! Much deserved!

    Thanks, Hazel and PL!

Foxbins... Kudos for you, with this situation. No guest room, here! Lots of hotel rooms in this 'burg, as it is a college town. That, is where I'd direct any guests.

PL... I remember a particular Indian Summer in 1979. Towards the end of November it was particularly hot. I remember it because, it was when my brother's best friend died, at only 23.

    Good luck, foxbins.

My honey bunny had successful cataract surgery today. He looks menacing this afternoon, wearing hospital-issue sunglasses. He's happy with the results, and I'm relieved.
