Default Which types of fragrance am I missing?

Hello everyone, Zhang Fan here again. I have been collecting fragrances for over one year now. Here are the ones I have:

    Bleu de Chanel EDP
    Dior Addict
    Dior Homme Intense
Issey Miyake L'eau d'Issey Pour Homme
    Versace Pour Homme
    Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium
Yves Saint Laurent La Nuit de l'Homme

I want to have one or two fragrances for each situation. Can you think of a situation which I don't have a good fragrance for? What should I buy?

Not really. You have a collection that skews pretty heavily towards versatility.

That depends on what situations you get yourself into..

Do you have a passive-aggressive fragrance for fight nights... with Grandma / girlfriend/ boyfriend etc?

As far as types of fragrances as asked in your thread title, maybe an incense or oud fragrance.

These are some of the ones I'm considering:

    Dior Homme
    Dior Homme Parfum
    Kiehl's Original Musk
    Prada l'Homme
    Tom Ford Black Orchid
    Valentino Uomo
    Valentino Uomo Intense
    YSL M7 (Oud)

Would any of those be more useful than the other ones? Thank you!

Looks like a good collection...maybe add a leather or a tobacco scent in there, if it was me, and it would be pretty well set!

Kiehl's Musk is very versatile. But you already have a bunch of versatile fragrances in your collection.

It's better, I think, to focus on what kind of notes you like, rather than what the fragrance would be used for. You already own a bunch of all-arounders, so at this point it would strike me as being better to pick stuff you just like because you like it, not because it'll be practical.

    you are thinking too hard

just buy fragrances you like and give you pleasure to smell -- what's the worst that can happen?

    These would be fine.

OP, you seem to have plenty of fresh scents or fresh-woody. I would suggest some slightly heavier scents for cooler weather, perhaps leather, tobacco or incense-centred.

YSL M7 is a good suggestion. I would add Musc Ravageur, Polo Ralph Lauren, Chanel Coromandel or Tom Ford Noir.

    Pretty versatile collection.
I was thinking too something that's big, or slightly challenging, if you want to make a statement. So in your list I'd say M7. Or as hednic was saying, an incense (like CDG2 man).

As for Dior Homme/DHI/DHP, I'd say that they are close enough, but intense and parfum are a bit heavier so perhaps the regular one is more versatile if it's warm.

The only ones I care about are the ones that are a part of the "I like to wear it' situation.

Kiehl's Original Musk is one I'd like but don't have. It's a better version of one or two things I do have.

M7 Oud Absolu is a fun fragrance.

While agreeing, as correctly pointed out before, that your collection excels at versatility-would perhaps also add a vetiver fragrance like Creed OV, the TDH line by Hermes, Eau de Vetyver by l'Occitane, Noble Vetiver by Chopard, Adolfo Dominguez Vetiver Hombre
(mentioning different styles, price categories and/or types of vetiver, in the hope of allowing for more possible retesting and/or sampling options)

I am not very masculine, but I like Dior Eau Sauvage. How is the Parfum version different?

I'm probably not the best to explain, but it's heavier. A tad more dank but still fresh, but not as citrus heavy.

Situation, Mad Max in the Thunderdome city. I'd say something with a large amount of masculinity. I suggest Polo. Or perhaps something raw and animalic, like Kouros or Leather Oud.
It’s tragic to think that heroic man’s great destiny is to become economic man, that men will be reduced to craven creatures who crawl across the globe competing for money, who spend their nights dreaming up new ways to swindle each other.

    Adding:

Guerlain L’Instant De Guerlain Pour Homme EDP

Also, check out Guerlain L’Instant De Guerlain Pour Homme EDT wears lighter than EDP version I prefer EDP for it’s strength and smell.

Others I feel are worth your time:

    Guerlain Homme Eau De Parfum
    Guerlain Homme L’Eau Boisee
    Guerlain Habit Rouge EDT/EDP/L’Eau
    Guerlain Vetiver/Vetiver Extreme

Possibly more classic citrus choices along the lines of Eau Sauvage, including but not limited to YSL pour Homme, ADP Colonia as well as Roberto Capucci pour Homme

I already own Dior Homme Intense, but I like this type of fragrance very much.

Would Dior Homme, Prada L'Homme, or Valentino Uomo go better with it?

I'd like one that is easier to wear casually, or to work.
