Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

    Morning all!

My mum in law is coming to stay today for a few days, Mr teardrop will pick her up from the airport & she'll be here when l get home tonight. l may not be online much while she's here, but l'll pop in when l can. She's adorable, but we're not used to houseguests & l hope all goes smoothly!

    Happy Birthday Furrypine!

My overall impressions of Chanel No 46 were great. To an extent I was reminded of both No 5 and No 22 with the absence of the prominent aldehyde and animalistic (No 5 only) accords. I'll need to do a comparison eventually.

Going with Creed Verveine Narcisse today

I am on a bit of a perfume hiatus here, but I spray myself every single day.

My SOTD for Wednesday will be D&G The One Essence.

An amped up version of The One EDP, still with a floral/peach and vanilla, but more amber and deeper notes.

Hello and best to everyone. Teardrop, enjoy your M-I-L’s visit!

Kewart, I get a flu shot every year. Sometimes, like this year, I experience a localized reaction (pain/redness/warmth at injection site). But it’s nothing that Advil doesn’t help or that would make me rethink getting immunized. Good luck.

SOTD is Estée Lauder Sensuous Noir.

Good morning, good smelling people. I number among you in St Clair Casablanca , yum.

I'm another flu shot advocate - I had the flu only once, and it was bad enough to convince me to get the shot every year. It was when my first round of kids were very young, one was a baby, we all got the flu and didn't have money for doctor or hospital or anything, and it was the first time I understood how a flu epidemic could kill people; feel lucky we all got through it. I know it's not always that dire, but we were all young and healthy and that is the closest I've come to death from illness, ever.

Inspired by the first autumnal chill in the air, I'm wearing Sycomore. Inspired by the SOTD oracles, I'm making an appointment for a flu shot.

And many happy birthday wishes to Furrypine, with gratitude for all his work as Community Manager to keep Basenotes running for all of us!

    Hello all,

I’m in Guerlain Heritage again today. It reminds me of my old favorite, Coromandel EDT, in spirit. Both are smooth patchoulis that feel warm and fuzzy like a brown cashmere shawl. (I actually own a brown cashmere shawl.)

I enjoyed my capsule travel wardrobe whilst in Quebec last week. Therefore, I’m going to try the Project 333 clothing wardrobe plan. It consists of wearing only 33 items of clothing, including accessories and shoes, for three months. The rest of the clothes are packed away. It’s a very popular practice among the minimalist set. I’m picking my items today.

    Have a good day.
Note to self: Choose being kind over being right, and you’ll be right every time.

Does a pair of shoes count as one item or two items?

I get the flu shot annually ever since I can remember. I don't see it having an impact when I do come down sick, it made no difference when I came down with pneumonia a few years ago.

Here in the U.K.they offer a separate pneumonia vaccine but I didn't go for it this time.
