At present, it's only Gucci Pour Homme 1 for all the questions - two bottles, one 100ml, one 50ml. Looking to add more as I sell off the rest of what I have bought in the process of finding my favourite scents.

    1. Most likely Chevignon Brand

    2. Difficult to remember, having been quite eager to back up even scents that are quite readily available, by no means rare, limited edition, vintage etc. lately

    3. Most likely Guerlain Heritage EDT, perhaps around or slightly above the 5-6 but below the 10 bottle mark

    4. At least 30-33% of the full sized scent bottles show in the collection, in fact, almost approaching 50% of the current fragrance lineup with at least a further larger/full sized bottle or at least one sample each

    This is a fun one.

First backup was either Fille en Aiguilles or Walimah Attar, can’t remember.

Latest scent I bought a backup of is vintage Rive Gauche Pour Homme.

I have the most backups of- a tie between Fille en Aiguilles(vintage), Antaeus(vintage), LADDM(2 original square bottles, one current), and Walimah Attar, at 3 bottles total each, so 2 backup bottles of each.

    13 backup bottles total.
    I have backups of:
Antaeus, Russian Oud attar, Walimah Attar, Fille en Aiguilles, Egoiste (vintage), LADDM, Baikal Gris, Ottoman Empire 2, Siberian Musk 2, and Giorgio Beverly Hills (vintage).

These are backups of the same fragrance. Now if we we’re talking different concentrations and vintages of the same fragrance it’d be Mitsouko at 4 bottles total. Vintages from the 30’s/40’s to the 90’s, Extrait, EDT, and PDT.

    1) Avon discontinued perfumes

    2) Lapidus Pour Homme

    3) Avon, literal gallons because a flea market had a $1 per bottle sale from the estate of a former Avon lady

    4) 100 maybe, not counting the Avon cache.

    4. Only the more “everyday” less expensive perfumes, e.g. I’d never back up anything out of Areej or Sultan Pasha.

This reminds me I need to back up vintage Heritage.

    1. The First fragrance I bought a back up bottle of was Mont Blanc - Legend. I found out it was discontinued and it is one of my favorites. Intense

    2. The latest I bought was Creed - Aventus

    3. I have 3 backup bottles of mont blanc legend intense. I have about 5 decants of Aventus but only 1 Brand New In Bottle.

    4. Across my collection, I probably only have 4 or 5 backup bottles.

If I love something, I buy backups.

When Siberian Musk was first released I bought (yes, I know it sounds insane) 6 bottles.

Vintage CHANELS have lately become my thing, so I now have 2-3 backup bottles of each of my favorites.

For the moment, I’m more focused on breadth than depth, so I have little in the way of backups. Before my surge in interest in frags, my main scents were Terre d’Hermes Parfum and Clive Christian 1872 and X. I still have one backup each of the first two; I don’t know which I got first.

I have since backed up Chanel Pour Monsieur, but really to have different vintage iterations; vintage Eau Sauvage, because my first bottle was smallish and a massive backup became available at a good price; and Gucci pour Homme (1976), because I found a good source. Otherwise, I have no backups, and I’m not really looking for them.

I've pretty much stopped buying backup bottles. My tastes can be quite fickle and as a result I've realised that it's pointless buying bottles of something unless it's been a long-term favourite. I'm most likely to back up a Lush perfume if I love it because some of their black label perfumes have short lifecycles and there's no way of knowing when, or if, it will be available again.

    With that said though:

1: I think it was Burberry Touch for Men back when it first came out - I loved it so much at the time I picked up a few bottles when I was flush with cash which was rare in those days.

2: Versace The Dreamer as an impulse buy, as it was on display behind the counter at Superdrug for twenty quid for a hundred mil.

3: I have the most back up bottles of Dior Homme Parfum, five 75ml bottles in total. But in terms of volume, I have 600ml of Eau Sauvage Parfum, which includes two 200ml bottles.

    4: About 25 I think

I am sure I have done it over the years but the one I remember doing Ambre Sultan back in 2004. People talking about reformulations and I went into panic mode. I have been known to do it if I see a great deal on one I own and love. For instance, Daim Blond when they were changing to the 100mls sizes I spotted online the older 50mls for £34 so jumped for it.

The actual last one was No5 EDT and that was in the sales online.

The one I have most of is Caron Alpona extract, 3 bottles including a 50mls size.

mostly single bottle backups of 14 d/c (or reformulated beyond all recognition) fragrances.

I’ve swapped or sold a number of others, as my tastes have changed over the years. Fragrances I thought I’d never want to live without don’t always stand the test of time ;-) This realization has actually curbed my instincts to ‘hoard’ when I hear that a fragrance I own and really like will be d/c. It has to really feel both unique and timeless to me to justify a backup (not to mention, be affordable).

I have a backup big bottle and a few additional 1oz minis of Michael for Men (2001).

I don't generally believe in backups; life is transient and there's a freedom in embracing the transient nature of experience. I don't really fret about not being able to wear X fragrance in the future. The reason I picked up some Michael is just that, since acquiring it, I wear it often enough that I'll go through it and I want to have at least a few years with it as a companion. I'm not hoarding it for some future time, though. I fully intend to go through it all in the relatively near future.

I'm new to all this collection craze, yet managed to get a few backups already: Elle YSL - 3 extra bottles, Midnight Poison - 2, Womanity Mugler - 2.
Now I started wondering what the best way to estimate approximate use would be, as I barely used these fragrances since my collection started expanding. If I have a chance, I'm definitely going to get more Vivienne Westwood, Midnight Poison, Sahara Noir TF, old editions of Black Orchid and Eau du Soir, and some more discontinued fragrances, vintages etc.
Sometimes I bump onto some estate sales on eBay and it's clear they are selling some frag-maniacs' stuff..... and then I picture myself 90 y/o giving away rare fragrances... Ahem.

I've backed up about 20 fragrances. I often do a double backup, for three bottles total. Around 50 backup bottles total.

I like focusing on favorite fragrances, and I need to back them up to wear them a bunch without worrying about running out.

If I only have 100 ml of something, I just have to wear it less, which is fine. 100 ml is already a lot.

If I have more, I'll wear more.
