    Cool Your Best Deal

From a cost/value perspective what was your best deal on a purchase? From a savings perspective alone, I purchased a 1.7 oz bottle of Mankind by Kenneh Cole for under $5. It was marked $60 but was on a clearance rack for 75% off. I had a coupon for 20% off, and I had $9 in rewards coupons. So I ended up with the bottle for $4 and change.

Best deal I have ever gotten on a fragrance. And it was at Ulta.

Really too many to think of, one that comes to mind vividly. I was at Walgreen's probably about 6 or 7 years ago now, maybe more.. they had fragrances with red stickers behind the glass, behind the counter. I asked the cosmetic dept lady how much the Cool Water was, it was $4. $4 for 4.2 oz Cool Water, that wasn't even the great part. Turned out, it was the old Lancaster Cool Water bottles. When I went back to get more, they were gone, and all they had was a lot of Antonio Banderas stuff. I picked up 2 bottles of Spirit at that time, I think they were smaller ones, for very cheap, something like $1.75 or something. Spirit is a really good frag too, some BN'ers know about it, and know what a sleeper this one is. I think the Cool Water was the big hit though. I also once got a bottle of Gucci Envy at Burlington (long after I knew it was discontinued too) for 20 bucks. I wound up selling it for much more at a later date, as I didn't wear it much.

I've had some pretty good luck finding deals at Goodwill in Seattle. Picked up a vintage 1950s Roger et Gallet Oiellet Bleu for $1.99. Also got a "grab bag" kind of deal containing three Wusthof knives along with Margiela Music Festival, Oribe Silver Pearl, and vintage Givenchy III splash, all full 100 ml bottles, for $15 total. So that would mean each bottle was roughly ~$2.50. Got another prepackaged bag of about 20 Le Labo Rose 31 shampoo, body wash and perfumed lotion hotel bottles for $3.99.

I picked up a bottle of Gucci Pour Homme I at a Sephora in an out-of-the-way shopping mall. Around $78, and that’s when it was already trading online for several times that price. I had a tough time not screaming with delight as the sales associate rang it up. It’s adventures like this that make fragrance collecting such a fun hobby.

In 2012 I picked up a 120ml bottle of Creed Aventus for $285 at Neimans, it now has a nice premium. Today its $435 for a bottle. You also lose 20mls of juice and get a weak sprayer.

    - 2x 250ml of Dior Eau Noire for €40 total. Kept 30ml and sold the rest.
    - 5x vintage Amouage for €100 total, back in 2010 I guess it was (second hand but full bottles).
Sold them all later as none of them pleased me.

Goodwilll? I've seen Avon bottles there but that's the only luck I've had at the locations near me.

A couple times a year Costco Canada stores have authentic 120ml Creed Aventus.
It takes a bit of effort to dig through a fresh pallet looking for the two or three bottles (timing is everything).
I have managed to get a few bottles with 2015 and 2016 batch codes.
They started out at $60.00 a few years back and have since moved up to $70.00.

Sadly I have not seen any in 2019.

I'll flip this one a little bit: purchased a perfume at market price but then three years later was offered to release it at 400% increase. I did and purchased a ticket to S America with savings to boost.

    As to the original post:

I'd say vintage Guerlain Heritage and Patchouli Nobile are the ones in my current wardrobe that offer the most quality at the negotiated (low) purchase price.

I bought one bottle of Frederic Malle Carnal Flower, and Neiman Marcus sent me two. They told me to keep the second. Their mistake was my deal.

Otherwise, Guerlain Habit Rouge for less than $30.

Was a guy that did not want to make any profit or whatsoever about a failed online shop and sold all for peanuts some years ago.
He told me later that the first who mailed him would get it for that price and I was the lucky one.

Dior Eau Sauvage EDP (2012), 100 ml.
One year ago I stoped at the shop and saw it on the window.
    I asked:

    - "¿How much?"
    - "u$s 35"
    - "Ok, I´ll take it"

Everything is legit and perfect. Batch code, etc.
    I still can´t believe it.

The bargain price is less shocking than the idea of Hednic at a garage sale.

Told this one several times, but here it is again. Back in 2010, while still living in Las Vegas, I visited Neiman Marcus (frequently!) and noticed they had a nearly full tester of Creed Vintage Tabarome. I made the comment that the fragrance had been vaulted, but that the Creed Boutique was selling a 1.7oz bottle (in their leather atomizer) for something like $400. They replied that was ridiculous and attempted to see if they had any more flacons in stock in other stores. The ones they showed available ended up being broken, so she made me this deal: buy a Creed atomizer and she would fill it up with Vintage Tabarome for free. I can't recall, but I think the atomizer was around $200. I ended up selling it a few years later for almost $600. Sometimes it's good to look at this hobby as an investment, as often times the value increases over time - particularly with discontinuations, reformulations, etc.
