Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

    Good morning!

I'm wearing Gucci Guilty Absolute today. Will go to my best friend's birthday party in the evening. Somehow I'm feeling very reluctant to go - maybe because I don't feel particularly well. But I'm sure she'll be happy to see me and would be sad if I didn't go, so I'm gathering my strength and my mood. I still have to pack the gifts, write a postcard and a birthday letter - we always write each other letters for birthdays, Christmases and occasions, and it always feels like the best part of the gift. Once she wrote me an actual theater play for my birthday. I wrote 13 short funny stories about her for her birthday last year. The expectations are rather high But I don't feel particularly creative currently, so I was postponing this. I will probably go play some computer game or something for an hour or so and then will come back to think about it.

I haven't bought Nick Cave tickets yet, first I have to make sure I have a company to travel with.

And thank you, I hope I'll feel better soon, too. Have a nice day off.

Hope you're feeling well enough to enjoy the party, ClockworkAlice. The creative birthday presents you exchange with your friend sound demanding, with great rewards! Bravo!

Moving from Mon Guerlain to a different Guerlain, Chant d'Arômes. This is a recent version. The notes are quite different from the Chant d'Arômes of the 1980s (alas). Only the same floral notes remain.

    Notes from Guerlain today:
    citrus, honeysuckle
    gardenia, jasmine, ylang-ylang
    underbrush, sandalwood, vanilla

Notes from 1984 H&R perfume book:
    mirabelle, gardenia, aldehydes
    jasmine, honeysuckle, clove buds, ylang-ylang
benzoin Siam, musk, olibanum, vetiver, moss, heliotrope

Good morning all. Congratulations on 17K teardrop!

A blustery, windy and balmy day here. I'm in Petales de Cashmere by Fragrance du Bois. I love the cashmere accord and this is good but not as good as Cadjméré 18.

Congratulations on your upcoming 17,000th post, teardrop! Every post is a treat for your BN pals!

Very happy for you on both counts, ine! Congrats!

Hope you feel better for the party, ClockworkAlice! I, too, am impressed by the sweet and creative tradition you share with your friend!

Joining FiveoaksBouquet in Guerlain today; still getting to know (and loving) my new Mitsouko EdT. I have the newer Cd'A too! Never knew the original (and that's probably just as well; it sounds divine!) but I do enjoy the new one on its own terms. Especially love it this time of year, you smell wonderful for a fall day, FiveO!

Teardrop, the value of your posts = 2 x 17,000.

Being your best friend sounds beautifully rewarding, CwAlice. I'm not surprised. I hope the pep has returned to your step.

Trilby, Shy, we understand our own natures, don't we? I believe we can learn to outsmart our poorer impulses if we make doing so a priority, yes?
